TBDM Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I created a custom plugin that edits the names/inventories of stormcloak soldiers. I did this by creating my own outfit and assigning it to every actor labeled as a stormcloak/son of skyrim, as well as making a new levelled list with the weapons I want them to have. I did this as well for some of the hold guards. The hold guards seem to have worked, they have the names, weapons, and outfits I gave them. However the stormcloak soldiers I see in quests and in cities (I just did the battle of whiterun and returned to the city) only have the new name, they still use their old equipment. I don't know how to fix this, can anyone help? I am using Mod Organizer, and my mod should be loaded last, I noticed it doesn't say that it is overwriting anything or being overwritten. I would post my load order however I'm not certain how to copy it from mod organizer
Guest Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Stormcloak soldiers are not unique NPCs, they are pretty much randomly generated. You should update the outfit and the leveled list of the master NPC that is used to generate them. Warning, because it has two levels. (And probably you have to do both, but I am not sure about it.)
TBDM Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 I thought that is what I did though. I went to LCharSoldierSons, LCharSoldierSonsVoiceTypeFemaleNord and MaleNord, and any of the actors I go to will have the master NPC as EncSoldierSonsTemplate. I edited that template to the outfit I want and the weapon list I want. According to the individual actors that make up these LeveledCharacter lists, they should be using the outfit/items, I'm not sure where I went wrong
Guest Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Check the "template NPC" of all the ones you edited, do also a right click on the template NPC and use the function to discover where it is used. Maybe you will find some extra items that are not updated.
TBDM Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 The template NPC appears to have the edits, and the use report says that all the npcs should have what the template has. Everything appears ultimately reference EncSoldierSonsTemplate (Even EncGuardSonsTemplate), and everything has use inventory checked.
Veladarius Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 If they still have the names you gave them but not the equipment then the likely issue is with the template. Move your mod to the very bottom of the load order so no other mods will overwrite your changes. Also, you will not see any changes to existing soldiers as their inventory is set and won't change until they normally reset.
TBDM Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 It is at the bottom of the load order, and I have tried using resetinventory on the npcs, but that doesn't work either
Veladarius Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Did you change the CW soldiers? It looks like all the soldiers changed during the civil war all have CW at the start of the names and not ENC.
TBDM Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 That might be it, they didn't show the inventory changes in the creation kit. I'll try editing those and see if that works Edit: Still nothing, except the names have reset back to "Stormcloak Soldier" I'm not sure what I did, the city guards appear to have not changed, they still have the added armor (after using resetinventory) and names, I'm going to try to mess wiht these more though, and see if I can find which one I'm supposed to edit.
