chajapa Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I'm looking through custom player homes looking for something special and I keep finding these homes with a BOATLOAD of mannequins. I don't use that stuff. They often come off their pedestals (I thought the unofficial patches fixed that....) and they occupy large rooms that go wasted. From a PERFORMANCE standpoint.... does a room full of mannequins act like a room full of NPCs? I mean mannequins that are not "activated" so they aren't wearing armor. They're just standing there like dummies (pun intended). Sometimes I go through a room full of them and in console I disable and markfordelete. They don't come back and that's fine because, like I said.... I never use them. ALSO.... I'm looking at Elysium estate right now and it really appears that it could be what I'm looking for. Even has a pen for cows! And a stable with room for bedrolls for cows..... oh.... yeah.... not COW cows, but .... well I wrote JUGS, so you can kinda go from there.... I thought I read about issues with Elysium Estate, but now I can't find anything. Anyone have experience with this one? Good or bad? The only issues I was able to find were related to not being able to move adopted kids into the house, but I don't adopt the little rugrats. Probably not an appropriate home for a child anyways with all that milking going on in plain sight..... but I digress... So... #1 Performance issues in the presence of many mannequins? and #2 Any known issues with Elysium estate? #3 Any suggestions for a not-too-massive house, with room for at least 10 followers and with a BARN or something for .... cows...?
Guest Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 About point #1: a mannequin is like any other NPC. So its mesh is rendered, textures applied, shadows calculated. It also runs the AI packages and the other normal NPC stuff (combat style, aggro radius behavior, etc.) but they simply don't move and do not react. So adding a mannequin somewhere consumes pretty much the same power that you have by adding a "quiet" NPC (without heavy packages or scripts.)
