www.creationkit.com, then youtube has a huge amount of tutorials.

Start easy, try things, do it again.

Then plan what you want to do and build your first mod.

You made the best first step in modding you could ever do IMO. You joined LL.. ^_^ I have yet to find a single site that offers the level of support for modders that LL does. Simple to complex it is all possible here. They are also more than willing to help those that are willing to help themselves ;).

For your question i have a few suggestions. Start with learning how the files are structured. Learn the tools (mod managers, script extenders TES5edit etc) problem resolutions, conflict fixes, merging mods etc. Cleaning mods as well (covered with the TESedit5 understanding) then when you are a master of your files.. go where CPU states.

Or not. just jump in and learn it all at the same time as you go :) lol. Many do. Can be more frustrating but exciting as well. Also faster. .. can be much more faster.

As CPU stated start easy. Merge a few plugins (armor, weapon) clean a few mods ( a tool that you will really need to do well and understand if you wish to release a mod as it is the proper thing to do) change a few stats. Don't like a weapons damage, change it. Want a weapon somewhere it isn't change the location. Add weapons to a container.. lots of simple things that can make your game much more fun. Find a weapon you like from a mega pack.. copy it out to your own esp :).. NO bloat, Got exactly what you need. lol.

You an Artist? .. re texture a few of the swords, armors etc. Some have even re textured some of the armors to "hello kitty". lol. .WTF.. Anyway. The sky is almost the limit and only thing that will hold you back is yourself.
