The real question: is Twisted Sister metal?

Something more current from the lead singer to change your mind?

That Dee Snyder number sounds more metal than Twisted Sister's popular stuff from the 80s (e,g., We're Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock).

I'm going 180 degrees opposite with ...

@zapotek2034That's a pretty cool song. Another one, like many others, I never would have heard if not for this thread.

Fair enough.  You have other bands back in the 80's like Iron Maiden, Dokken and Quiet Riot, that had songs which weren't as heavy as the song I posted from Dee Snider or something from say Pantera, but some might consider them as an early form of metal.

Maybe hard rock would be better suited?

I'm sure there are some distinctive characteristics that would help determine things one way or another, but I've never thought too hard on it one way or another.

Not trying to start a debate regarding terminology. There's no objective definition of "heavy metal."

But whatever the definition is, this is not it.

@branmakmuffin I agree with you.  I also enjoy getting exposed to music I've never heard before.

Feeling a bit nostalgic.  I got this record when I was a kid.  Not sure how popular it was back then, I just remember my dad getting it for me since he's my favorite superhero.

Abby has a Great story, she was homeless, pretty much by choice and a friend "liberated" two large spoons from a restaurant with which he showed her the basics of spoon playing so she could assist in his street performance and she was hooked.

It was a way for her to generate income and support herself sans "Working for the Man" so that's what she did.

She also hopped trains and lived the Hobo Life, Train hopping she traveled around the country eventually getting great at playing the spoons, she helped establish the street music scene in Ashville North Carolina where she is still playing today.

If Interested see her website, a great read!

I don't think there are any studio recordings of her, just what is available on YT.

EDIT- Abby is the woman playing the spoons, I think she is a Beautiful Soul, I like her facial expressions while she plays, that vid launched her into stardom with all the good and bad remarks that trolls throw out, we all need to support her with good thoughts and good posts to lift her up, dispel all the negativity, she is a very grounded, down to earth kind of person, who doesn't need to be supported with positivity?!
