Mister E Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 So several mods I use updated and as I usually do when that happens, I start a new game as Skyrim inevitably shits the bed when that happens mid-game, even with a clean save. I thought it was a good thing to do, but noooooo... The worst part about this is that it's not at the Bethesda logo, or on the loading screen. Of course not because then I'd know what to do. I've been there and done that. Those would be a simple missing master or load order problem. No, it crashes on the cart scene at the beginning, right after the big SKYRIM logo appears over Ralof's face. God this is annoying. I ran LOOT. I ran TES5Edit. I'm dismantling my mod list one by one, and I can't find what's causing it! I don't suppose any of you nice people could tell me what the problem is? Here's my papyrus log. Keep in mind that this is a heavily scaled-down log too, as I've gutted my mod list. (At times like this I really wish I knew how to read these logs.)
Guest Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 If the game starts but you CDT while you are on the cart (usually a few seconds after), there is a possibility of a HDT problem. Are you using the HDT system? If yes, disable it, try again to load the game. Works: reinstall HTD Does not work: clean up all the config files of HTD and re-try.
Mister E Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Thank you but that can't be it. I don't use HDT. I do use realistic ragdolls and force for SOS, could that be the issue?
Arthacs Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I've read somewhere that SOS screw up the vanilla start and should not be installed before the horse ride is over. Maybe u should use ASAL, if u want vanilla start u can choose it there anyway, after all those mcm menues are in order.
Guest Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Don't think so. But you are using (from your Papyrus), HDT High Heels System. And it requires HDT...
Mister E Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Don't think so. But you are using (from your Papyrus), HDT High Heels System. And it requires HDT... Oh duh. I'd forgotten about that. I'll try that next.
~magic~ Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Also, you might try an alternate new game method, i.e type the following commands at the main menu coc qasmoke player.removeallitems completequest mq101 startquest mq102 90 [you only bypass the first quest and a few lines by Balgruuf and Irileth this way] showracemenu If you don't crash there, then it's something conflicting with the cart scene, such as HDT. If you do crash on COC, then it's some mod you changed or updated since your last save, and you'll have to find it by elimination.
RebelInfernal Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Arthacs is right, SOS (schlongs, not sounds) does mess up the cart ride. Having said that, I think I remember HDT causing issues a while ago.
Mister E Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 Update: Disabling HDT High Heels didn't work... what the fuck is going on? I'm sorry if I sound pissy, but I've been trying to fix this for the better part of the past three days and it's driving me nuts that I have no clue what's causing it or even where to start.
Guest Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Use the old school method. Disable all mods, and re-enable them 10 by 10. Until you will find the culprit.
Mister E Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 Fuuuuuuuuuuuck. I was afraid of that. I've been doing the reverse of that (disabling groups of mods and seeing what works) but feel no closer to the answer. I guess I should start from the bottom up instead of the top down.
Guest Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Good luck. From time to time it is pretty mandatory to reinstall Skyrim from scratch.
Mister E Posted July 20, 2015 Author Posted July 20, 2015 I did that already. I was just hoping that I could salvage my mod list as well.
Guest Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 If you use a valid mod manager like Mod Organizer you could salvage all your mods.
