sieboldii Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Use the unofficial patches and play the vanilla game though without any mods first. That way you will have a better idea of which mods to use to improve your game.
azerty852 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 I wanted to play it as close to vanilla as possible but it crash instantely with and without unoffical patch. Tried everything I could(10 minutes of google). I am glad I only wasted 7€ on this shit. Removed it. Now looking for working games. Last bethesda crap i bought in my entire life. I hope steam will refund me.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Get the 4GB enabler from Nexus, or NTcore. Also get the stutter remover from Nexus. Read this if you haven't.
FubarN7 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Wish I could have saved you the trouble. I use windows 8.1 so it is basically unplayable on its own for me. It just sits in my steam library tempting me to pull out my old pc just I can play this gem. My advice, grab a cheap console version at gamestop.....
eludicous Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Games for Windows Live remover. Fallout 3 Intel HD Bypass. Google or YouTube them and read up on them to get them to work. Check your codecs. I believe some will cause it to crash. Followed with endgameaddiction's recommendations it will work. If you own Fallout GOTY and Fallout New Vegas GOTY you can try Tales of Two Wastelands(TTW) because Fallout 3 on its own will still crash a lot.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 The person refunded his game shortly after buying it. No need to help him/her now.
sila Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Tbh it sounds like the issue he was having was likely caused by the multicore issues... Just locking the game into using only 2 cores can reduce crashes significantly, fairly sure its the same for windows 8 as well.

This should help http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/18900/?
sila Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 The only thing I needed to change to get fallout 3 and nv to run well on windows 7 was the multicore fix.
