I don't think this'd be an AO topic. But, do any of you have any inkling of knowledge about hacking? My household's Steam account has been hacked, and Steam Support is fucking useless. :/

That account is probably lost. Even if you find someone who's "stupid" enough outing him/herself... Nothing stops the other one to do it again and again.

And yes, steam support sucks hard.

that account better fucking not be lost. I'm not re-buying all my fucking games.

well first of all no hacking happens without some source info. its easier part for the one who hacked you because he most likely picked random one. second IF this happened not too long ago (1-2 days) you CAN use your email to reclaim your account because if im right even if the hacker changes the return email some weird way you still have sort of safe-zone that you can use to return it. IF and when this way works first change the password to something totally different from last one and try to find out if you can find ip from recent activity. if your email was also hacked and you cant return the email AND you dont know anything about the person who stole your account well then its bad luck. cant do anything much at that point and you can only hope to contact support does something.

and for future use here some helpful things to keep in mind

1 NEVER use same password in email you use with steam because thats the first thing any somewhat experienced hacker will try if they find email thats linked to steam account

2 steam guard keep it always up and if you start to get mail of someone random trying to log on your account make sure you remove those messages.

3 i recommend using gmail as steam linked email because gmail can be recovered with your phone. and good side is that its never visible if the account has this feature on until you go through all security settings and check it

for me first my steam is locked so all visits from new ip or even visits from old ips that havent had visit for while demand email confirm. -> to get to email you need password that is totally different in length and message from my steam account one-> if its new ip or pc that i havent logged before it sends message to my phone (normal phone message) that has random code i need to enter. if wrong code is entered too many times the ip gets locked out and cannot even attempt to log in to my gmail for certain time.

the phone message confirm is extremely reliable but has downside that IF i change my phone and also get new number i have to change confirm phone number cause if i dont im out of luck with it

Valve is useless and always will be. This whole thing reminds me why I can't stand Square Enix anymore. Their customer support is fucking terrible.

Either you did a fabulous job getting under someone's skin and they decided to take revenge, or someone saw a lovely steam account full of toys and decided it was time to claim the toy box for themselves.

Well...i'am trying not to be a troll but the chances are "good" that it is. A friend of mine lost his password for steam and the e-mail-address he used for steam. Steam never helped, so his around 1000€ worth account is down the drain. Sorry.

I didn't read up on all that's being said before but change your passwords for evrything that had the same or similar passwords to your steam account. Then when you have secured that you should be able to reclaim your account via the support and provide them the following details:

(support)https://support.steampowered.com/newticket.php

Good luck! Hate when stuff like this happens!

In short, whine at Steam harder, try the account recovery thing, change right now the passwords on all of your e-mail accounts, if you registered your credit card on steam GO TO THE BANK RIGHT FUCKING NOW. I buy shit on steam only with prepaid cards so I don't know how it works with direct transactions, but if you don't recover your account asap, you better talk to your bank.
