datjellyman Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I'm following these instructions: http://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php?title=Using_a_face_made_with_Chargen_Extension_on_an_NPC_for_Skyrim The only problem is that when I get to where it says: Create the NPC In the CK create the NPC as usual (you can follow this tutorial Adding a Follower NPC to Skyrim but don't spend too much time worring about his face as it will be overwritten by the face you have already created Just create the NPC with the same weight your character has, and give him the hair and eye textures you want. Once you are done, press the Ctrl+F4 keys as explained here Fix the NPC face colour to create the nif and dds files for the NPC. These files are stored at the folder: the nif file will be located at: (install folder)\Data\meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\MyPlugin.esp\ the dds file will be located at: (install folder)\Data\textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\MyPlugin.esp\ with the name of your esp file instead of MyPlugin.esp. I follow all this. I do the color fix but the problem is that when I go looking for the nif and dds files but they aren't there. I checked in the facegeom file like it says but it just isn't there. I've build the character with creation kit and I can find the npc in game. It does seem to have the correct body but the face and the head color isn't the same though) Any ideas why I can't find the file I need? I'm trying to use the merger like it says but I can't do it since I'm missing half of what I need. I have the .npc file.
Kaos Wulf Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 You need to make sure you're under 'Actors' and highlight the followers name in the object window when you hit ctrl+F4. It'll ask you if you want to export, so hit yes and it will take a second before it prompts you with another message, letting you know it was successful. Sometimes when I've exported in the CK and checked the folders, nothing was in there and I had to do it again. It may have done that to you on the first attempt; it's one of the many bugs I've experienced.

Irrational Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I think I know what the problem is. Did you try ticking the "Unique" box in the character window? I had the same issue exporting facegen data NPC's a while back back and it was due to not ticking the unique box. You know you have successfully exported the facegen when the program lags a bit during exporting. After words the nif and texture files will be found in the following directories: "\meshes\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\"Your mod"" "\textures\actors\character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\"Your mod""
h38fh2mf Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 It's very picky indeed, few more things to try: 1. Create your actor and mark it as "base actor", not inheriting any other base. 2. Create another actor and choose actor base as the previous actor you made. Tick all the boxes that take data from base form so that everything is greyed out from being modified. 3. Select the "base actor" form in CK and do Ctrl+F4. You may need to save your mod first, exit CK, reload your mod and then export the base actor's face thing.
