RitualClarity Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=Bethsoft_Tutorial_GECK_Setup One from LL.. Very good. This one will also help you set up the GECK properly so that you can be efficient in modding and give you some practice in GECK as well. This is what I would play around with when I go and start to get serious with modding (If I can ever get off my lazy green alien but). http://www.loverslab.com/topic/33245-geck-scripting-from-fool-to-fox/ Google any questions r/t the modding process that you find confusing.. Then as you start to play with the mod that you want to create after reviewing some of these sources and others that you have a chance to look over. (Say a couple of hours to get used to the concept. install some tools.. Use the GECK to view stuff etc.) post some specific questions related to the process you need to clarify as you build your mod. Scripts, importing textures etc. The main thing is not to get frustrated and give up. It is an easy process just has a learning curve that depends on your tech savyness and willingness to devote the time to modding.and learning about modding. Many have stated here and in a few weeks had their mod and a few months later had larger and larger and more complex mods. Give yourself plenty of time to make this a success and if possible regular time to work on the project/ and learning (this will help reinforce the skills you develop instead of forgetting the subjects.
gr8mp3 Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Thanks! That was alot to take in, Watt is the easyest mod to start with?
RitualClarity Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 "Watt" mod is the easiest to start with is the ones listed to do in any tutorial.. It is that easy. IN the end you would have a mod.. reference to what you have done and added skills. ON the second hand. Changing records,, adding assets, merging mods, and other personal conversions and alterations to customize the game would be nice.. easy and not require you to "reinvent" the wheel. This would be easy for starters, you have a back up of a confirmed mod (resources) that you can restore back if you screw up and give you practice on changing, alternating and manipulating mods. Finally if you run into a specific issue say importing an amor outfit.. a thread.. some screen captures of GECK where you are hung up and explanation of what you did and a few minutes to a couple of hours and you would have an answer. . Not to mention help others in the same boat as you. Unrequested suggestions follows.. Word Wall warning!!! I am not a modder. I haven't done anything more than change the eyes or hair color or style of a character. I followed Kendo2's tutorial to get Jack's armor into the game.. (found on this site.. you'd have to search I don't have the link currently. ) So I am in the same boat as you however have some of the understanding to to more (how the game works.. which I strongly suggest you start to get used to.. but not a requirement. you can learn on the way and will learn this as you start to mod). but haven't committed the needed time or energy to do so. No other real reason. Add suggestions for modding and LL Post polite and respectfully here on LL. Don't snap at someone that post something that isn't quite what you wanted. Redirect if necessary. There are many here that use translators to get their info, others have reading or comprehension issues. Sometimes the post that is created isn't quite clear. Redirect first. If there is a problem or constant derailment.. leave it to the moderators (or sometimes a contributor might chime in to gently guide the members ). Help others here. LL is known for supporting everyone very good. Many state better than Nexus or Steam. The help is quick and usually quite accurate. You can increase the response and body of responders and even level of respondents by helping others with mod installs. Problem solving etc. Simple solutions. Stuff you can try to answer to the best of your ability. Might not think it helps but imagine this.. You help with a simple install of say a script extender with a new member. That means that more experienced members .. would have time and energy to post on more complex situations . Every little bit of help goes a long way and us contributors and long term members and mod content creators here for the most part realize this and respect this.. Thus the added and sometimes increased support. Practice, Practice, Practice.. does that need to be said. This leads into more skills that leads into the ability of more support etc. Which can lead into .. Group projects. After a time here others will recognize you. When the start doing this.. they might like or respect your support of their mod.. (first step easy) and might even ask for your help.( for some mods that are along the lines of your skills which at this point might be limited). Then you gain more "practice" gater more "respect" and gain more "exposure" to the community. which then leads into More leadership.. and more respect and even more help and assistance and furthering your modding skills. I have been here awhile and gathered the attention of many modders and members here. I get help quite readily and give it out just as much (or sometimes more ). I have every confidence that when I do decide to start working on a mod. I will get adequate assistance and help with the process. So you can see I am not a modder but I do have the experience to explain some of the "back story" needed and guidance on how to be successful at modding here on LL.
