JetpackAngel
Before you even ask, yes, the title makes about as much sense as the bug I'm experiencing. I finally disabled Airborne Perching Birds. I already hate how quiet it is now, and how dead the land looks with Detect Life, but between it, the flying spell, SOS, and a few other script-heavy things, I was getting tired of how crashy my game was and how my Papyrus was absolutely start-to-finish stack dumps. Normally when I disable a mod, I'll open up SaveTool and remove all of that mod's scripts from my save, hit the button for "fix script instances," and maybe reset the havok while I'm at it, to cut down on save size. Opening up that save, however, caused SOS to freak out at the data not matching its records (which it's never done before) and it 'restart' itself, with the exception of an endless, rapid-fire equip-unequip-equip sound barrage. I stripped naked right there to see what was causing that unholy racket, and my undesired underwear (which I had thought I'd manually deleted from the character assets folder) was... well, it appeared to be flickering, but judging by the sounds it was actually being equipped and unequipped several times per second, and properly restarting SOS in the MCM didn't help. So I reloaded a previous save, with APB removed but without having run SaveTool, and everything seemed fine... until I ran into one of those world encounters on the road, the farming couple whose farm just got totaled by a dragon. The only option I had was "I don't have any gold to spare," which puzzled me, because I'm almost level 60. So I opened up the console and warped 5000 in, tried to talk to the farmer again... and I still didn't have any gold to spare. Opening up my inventory, I had zero gold. I spawned another 5000 with my misc menu open, and my gold count appeared and disappeared faster than my underwear had earlier, though this time it didn't reappear. So.... anybody have any ideas? Anybody? You should be aware, I have a history of... interesting bugs. I actually consider it something of a really sucky superpower: I break the unbreakable in Bethesda games. I've had horses attack buildings, I've had NPCs turn into other NPCs for no damn reason, mods that turned my crosshair invisible when the mod author didn't even know you could do that, scripts that teleported me when there wasn't a single placeatme or moveto in the whole damn script... Yeah, it's... weird. So. Do I just start a new save and add this to the 'weird bugs' list? Link to comment
Suludi
Reinstall SOS instead of just restarting? Link to comment
b3lisario
SOS not finding its data after a save clean. Is probably caused because the savegame file was renamed and the related skse co-save file can't be located. I never saw the rapid-fire equip-unequip-equip thing. SOS equips a schlong (which is an armor) if the character is naked. The underwear appears if there is nothing on slot 52, it's not a real armor and it does not produce sound on equip/remove. The sound must come from another armor, probably the schlong. It could be that whatever is stealing your money is also stealing the schlong armor every time SOS puts it back. Link to comment
JetpackAngel
The equip-unequip sounds were still happening even when fully clothed, which was why I stripped, and then I and the Khajiit caravan just stood there and watched my underwear (and dick) blink in and out of existence. I normally don't have anything equipped in slot 52. The weird thing is, when SOS restarted itself, it finally recognized that I had all three schlong plugins, which I thought was just something going right for once because to date it had only recognized two of the three no matter what I did to try to convince it otherwise. This is not the first time I've removed a mod mid-save, but it is the first time SOS has freaked out about it. Normally everything continues to run smoothly. I'll investigate turning SOS completely off and then on again after work. Link to comment
JetpackAngel
Okay, I removed SOS without incident, and at first my game seemed to be behaving itself. I decided to poke around a little while before saving and quitting and restarting SOS again, so I did what I did before and when I ran into the farmer couple, I was suddenly poor again. So I reloaded my save and went into bug-finding mode: every time both before and after I performed an action, I opened up the console and hit the up arrow to re-enter the "player.getitemcount f" command because it was faster than checking my menu. Exiting the interior, still had money. Picking flowers, no change. Shooting my bow at a tree was good. Shooting my bow at an animal and killing it was fine too. Opening its corpse, all good. Taking the measly two gold that the deer must have swallowed somehow during the course of its life, suddenly my gold is at 0 and no console command I make will change that. Clearly SOS isn't the culprit because it was properly shut down and is no longer currently running, and the only other script I've changed is removing APB. Anybody ever heard of this bug? Fixable, do you think? Or is it new save time? Link to comment

JetpackAngel
I wonder, would APB run better if I just deleted the Papyrus-altering ini file that came with it? Because the land is so static now and I can't stand it. But yeah, this is an 'optional' file with APB and I was hopefully wondering if it was why APB took up so much of my Papyrus. (I installed it way back when I didn't know any better.) I know it won't fix the unstable scripting, but would it make things just a little better? Maybe? Please? Dammit. Well, thanks for answering that, at least. I'll just hope someone will take over APB and fix the scripting since the mod seems abandoned. I'll create a new save tonight, and if I still have the gold bug, then I guess it'll be Advanced Bug-Finding time, where I'll turn off ten mods at a time and try to replicate the bug until I finally narrow it down.
