I finished building my first computer of 9 years after graduating from grad school and getting a real job. Haven't PC gamed almost at all during that time. Essentially new to PC gaming, but have heard great things about Skyrim, and joined this community to find out more.

There are a ton of mods out there, and I just have no idea where to start. I definitely want a more... "immersive" experience than vanilla Skyrim.

Is there generally an accepted primer of mods to install that are essential? Running off a R9 290X.

since installing it I have realized I could never play skyrim again without frostfall. it is a mod focusing on cold weather survival. for the basic needs I am currently using ineed making it imperative that I eat drink and sleep on a regular basis. I also use perkus maximus to overhaul..... pretty much everything. they can all be found on nexus. search 'immersive' on the nexus for more immersion based mods as well. and don't forget to read their specific install instructions, of the 3 perkus maximus is the most complicated. I recommend using a mod installer, I use nexus mod manager from the nexus site.

The STEP guide is fantastic. Very thoroughly written, with clear directions (at least so far). Going to call it a night, but so far, on the mod installation step (installing high res textures). So far the configuration has gone as well as I could have hoped, and hopefully will be able to get this fully installed by tomorrow night. I thought I would have to install, 2, maybe 3 mods. Did not know I'd end up installing dozens and dozens.

Definitely a new world to me.

the first of first : learn to use mod organizer, ENB, some graphic mods like ELFX, SMIM, weather,...that will make it can compare with 2015 games, then racemenu with character overhaul mods like hdt, skeleton, fnis, body texture, hair, eyes, face,

then only try heavy script mod, use them with caution and script cleaner tool
