XIDUK Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Hi, can anyone direct me to the page (if it exists) that may (if they are there) list all the excellent Mods i have downloaded from this site, I've looked everywhere i can think of including content tab in profile but every page i think is the one simply says...we have no record....I've downloaded quite a few and as a noob i need to go back and read a few things, is there a tab/button i've missed? Or should i be a grown up and re-search for each mod individually? I am very new to adding Mods to games and am trying hard to work things out for myself, I'm using nmm (cos its the first one i came across) and my FO3 and NV are reliant upon that. i've learned an awful lot from this site and can now create Data files for esp. esm. and archive so that Nmm recognises them, my game loads perfectly no probs with load order thanks to loot but when i start to play...no sign of any mods....nothing on pip-boy no references at all. So need to find the problem and thought i could pick up on something if i re-read all instal- instructions BUT CAN'T FIND THE BLOODY PAGE....... if it exists.... Luminar Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 I'm not aware of any page on this site that tracks someone's downloads. I don't mean to insult with any of the following, but since you are by your own admission a complete noob... So first question: Did you actually turn on your mods? Sorting a load order is all fine and dandy, but just because a mod is displayed in the load order sorting screen of a mod manager doesn't mean the game will pay attention to it. It needs to be activated as well. second: In case something else is going on, please post a screenshot of NMM showing your load order. Third: Many mods include readmes, if you deleted them by accident, check your recycle bin for 'em. If you did not, check wherever you unpacked the .rar or .zip. It's not always necessary to view the individual download pages and associated threads.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 There is one way to track mods you've downloaded. On the top right of this topic click "follow this topic" and confirm. Then on the top left where your username is click the down arrow and click on "content i follow" and it will take you to a page that lists every single topic you follow.

As for readme's a few of the dl's where just esm. or esp. files i made a data folder for in a new folder and had nmm install them for me...it seems to work and am overcoming probs as they arise, at the mo i'm clipping thru floorboards on certain actions...haha i think i need to check bodytypes or skeletons... Erundil Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Yeah, tracking mods is probably the best way to do it. Mods do get updated, so if you follow them, you get notified about every update. You consider yourself a noob? Well, knowing how little you know is a knowledge by itself and places you above tons of ppl who don't even know that much Here's some advice you can use to get better at using mods: 1. Mod manager Use it. The best one I've seen so far is Mod Organizer. It not only help you keep things tidy, but does tons of other things for you. The list of features varies with different mod organizers, so you have to figure them out yourself, but trust me - it's well worth the effort. Just do everyone a favor and DON'T use the Nexus mod manager. It's terrible. (I can't help you any further with mod managers, because I don't use them myself. It's because I don't feel like I need them, being a modder for over 13 years now.) 2. Track mods and keep a list of mods How you track a mod depends on the site - here on LoversLab you can Follow a mod to get notifications on updates. Other sites have different name for that (Track on Skyrim Nexus for example). Some sites do not have the option to track updates at all. In such case keep links to mods downloaded from sites that don't support tracking updates and check for new version every now and then. I keep a link for every mod, even if I track it, just in case the site breaks and fail to send me a notification. 3. Read descriptions Read description thoroughly BEFORE downloading a mod. If problems occur, read description again BEFORE posting questions. It saves everyone a lot of time. 4. Keep a lot of saves When you uninstall a mod, it's best to go back to an old save when said mod haven't been used. This keeps your saves clean - scripts from uninstalled mods will not persist in your saves breaking them. Going back to old save is not always mandatory, since some mods are too simple to break things when uninstalled, but if your modding skills are at beginner level, you probably don't know when it's needed and when it's not. 5. In case anything goes wrong Unless you're using mod manager (and you should use a mod manager, uninstalling a mod usually means deleting tons of files from game folder. For noob it's very hard to do, especially when one mod overwrites files of another, and you need to restore the overwritten files. The most reliable method is the most blunt as well. It works every time. Even if you do use a mod manager, you can still use it as your last resort: Delete everything from game folder, then reinstall the game itself. As last step install back the mods you didn't have problems with. It's time consuming and requires a lot of effort, but if things go terribly wrong, restoring all game files to vanilla state is your universal fix. Mods never mess with the registry or put files outside game folder - just so you know. This also means that you don't have to reinstall the game per se - if you have the backup of vanilla game folder, you could just copy the files from it. I only mentioned reinstalling because it's an easiest solution - requires no knowledge. Also no one sane would keep a backup of entire game folder (I do, but I have other reasons for that; also I wouldn't describe myself as sane).
TheHuntress1970 Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Since you need to load mods from LL into NMMI store mods from LL in their own LL folder. I even store armor sets with their body slide files in their own folders as well.

When you press the print screen key, a screenshot is added to the clipboard. That can then be pasted to an image editing program and saved as a jpeg, which can then be shared online. So, to be clear, you are experiencing modified content in your game now, but you are also experiencing bugs? In that case, if you post your load order and provide clear, concise descriptions of the bugs you're experiencing, we should be able to give you some advice on sorting out the problems with your install. Or at least help you find the support threads for the mods your using. (Mind you that a certain amount of instabilities and CTDs is just a run of the mill hazard with Bethesda games) Also, you should follow Erundil's advice and use Mod Organizer instead of Nexus Mod Manager. While I personally don't use either (I use Wrye Bash for managing my load order and manually install all my mods), MO is a very reliable program that a lot of people on this forum swear by.

Hi Erundil Sound advice, thankyou, i am looking into Mod manager tonight and will see if i can adapt; although i have been using nmm for both my FO games as this was the first one i came across on the site that shall not be mentioned haha, i follow Gopher for his tutorials and he's kinda stuck on that one so for a noob i thought it best to swim in the shallow end for a bit, still all said and done whats the point of learning if you won't climb the curve.. i do ( now ! ) and will continue to track mods and use multiple saves that is sound advice, thanks. As for the doomsday scenario, please dont laugh tooo much but i've already followed that option more than once haha... thankyou for your help.
