Rokabur Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 When you're finding brand new places in Oblivion or you get quests and you have no idea where they're from, does that mean you have too many mods installed?
Gaebrial Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Too many mods? Is there such a thing? The only time you could conceivably have too many mods is when you have more than 255, so you can't select them all. But all that tells you is that it's time to load Tes4Gecko and merge some of them.
Guest GingerTom Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I found that at 254 everything was just fine---at 255 the game kept crashing. Otherwise, I like to discover places that weren't there before--keeps the game interesting. (Sometimes you go: 'Was that there before? Did I just miss it? How could I miss it?)

I just meant there are times I'm wondering around Oblivion and I'm coming across places or getting quests that weren't there before and I'm going "Where the fuck did this come from?" Yay for Tes4Gecko! Wrye Bash and Tes4Gecko together I've saved around 44 plugin slots. Thanks for the heads-up on Tes4Gecko Gaeb. I remembered seeinbg someone mention it in a post about merging plugins but I couldn't remember what it was called.
gregathit Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Be careful on merging any mods that have scripts. Armor/weapon/clothes mods are typically fine.
Rokabur Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Be careful on merging any mods that have scripts. Armor/weapon/clothes mods are typically fine. I just wanted to merge most of the beast race mods since I had so many. Tes4Gecko took me to 197/255 mods for Oblivion. 7 I couldn't merge. 4 had a patch that added them as NPC's to cities,2 were required for CM partners and last 1 just kept bringing up some kind of error. Possibly might have a few too many quest mods. I've found least 30-40 locations and I have less then zero idea which mod they go too lol.
Archangel89 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Well I don't know about there being too many mods, but I have about 4.25Gigs worth of mods installed in mine, and I haven't experienced any technical problems worth mentioning :/
Dreamer102 Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I think when your game crashes after a few hours...it's time to scale back on the mods...or increase your computing power.
Guest Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 There is no restriction to how many mods you should ever have. Keep modding and only stop when you are as satisfied as you will ever be with your game.

Some mods are pretty big in size.
Guest Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 No mod that I know of is more than 2 gigs. Qarls texture pack is around two gigs but that's because it's a massive texture replacer.

Unless someone has a larger size 8(
