Mod Organizer and LOOT issue

So, after a break from Skyrim, I decided to return and did a clean install of everything. However, Mod Organizer has come up with a new way of annoying me, (MO has always been able to annoy me with it's shenanigans...).

Apparently he no longer whishes to use LOOT anymore and refuses to change he's mind about it. I installed it exactly the same way I did in the past, but now everytime I try to run Loot from MO and I click "Sort Files" a white Windown appears and then an Internet Explorer page pops up saying it can't open. But If I run LOOT without MO it works like wonders. Which makes me believe this is MO being a bitch again...

Now I've tried everything, reinstalling everything, reinstalling LOOt, getting different versions of LOOT, getting the latest version of Internet Explorer, renistalling MO. And nothing.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

How does downloading LOOT and adding it as an embedded executable work on your setup? (I haven't upgraded MO in ages - still on V1.2.11 - but that seems to work).

Ummm, like I said, haven't upgraded in ages. So something to avoid until such times?

That's about the only thing I haven't tried so I'm going to try and get an older version.

Okay, I just tested with an older version(V1.2.18) and now everything works great again. I'm guessing the latest version has some issues with LOOT, so I would advice people to hold on upgrading until they fix it. :P

Such things are called 'cutting edge' for a reason :) (at least you found a solution).

Yeah. And thanks for the the idea. : )

I'm not sure I understand.

LOOT is embedded in MO, it has been for a long time, and will probably always be.

The author certainly has not decided to stop using LOOT, and is certainly not refusing to use it. Saying stuff like this just starts vicious and baseless rumors.

When you click the "Sort" button, it runs LOOT.

You can download LOOT and add it to the executable and run from MO. If it is not running, then there is something wrong with your installation of either MO or LOOT, or you have not properly set the file path.

If LOOT runs but does not connect, then something on your computer is preventing it like a firewall or virus protection, or the server itself is having issues (this does happen occasionally).

If LOOT (or MO) runs, but does not make permanent changes to the load order etc. then you have probably made the mistake of installing something as an administrator (never, ever (I mean never) install mods or utilities as administrator).

I am using 1.3.3 and it runs LOOT just fine. The 1.2.x version I used ran LOOT just fine.

I suggest you head over to YouTube and search for "STEP MO LOOT" and watch the official STEP guide on properly installing both MO and LOOT (watch the other STEP MO guides as well, they are all very short and extremely well done). You can either follow his suggestion of installing the entire game and mods outside of the x86 folder, or (better solution) fix the permission on the Skyrim folders (both my docs and Steam). Google "Windows fix permissions" to learn how to install stuff with out doing stupid things like running an installer as an administrator.

Any Of The 1.3 Versions Are Betas, But The Mod Author Hasn't Put That In The Description (Which They Really Should Do) So Keep Using 1.2.18 Until The Newest Version Comes Out Of Beta
