BOUTTE1 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I've been playing on the same install for over nine months and aside from an occasional problem with a new mod here and there it's been pretty clean sailing. Then last night it CTDs. I noticed that Steam had also crashed so I figured that was the problem. Of course I can't get Steam to boot up so I rebooted my PC which usually fixes most Steam problems but now even though Steam is running fine I can't start the game. When I rebooted and started NMM I got a message prompting me to update, which I did, but I think I may have lost an essential file somewhere. (What do I know?) Even though I'm an old fart and in no way a power user I've been able to fix most problems but this one has me stumped. Can someone help an old man out? Anatriax Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Do you have wrye bash installed? If not, install it. Once installed check for red/orange check marks. Those mean that masters are missing, or not in the right place. It should point you in the right direction.

BOUTTE1 Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 Yes, using Loot. Just now looking into Wryebash. From what I can see I also need to switch to MO. Been meaning do it anyway. I'm considering just doing a re-install while I'm doing all this other stuff. How do I save my save games? Lotta stuff to read up on. Has anyone been able to tell anything from the info in the spoilers? Just curios as to what killed my game. Thanks for the responses.
Ashkandii Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Avoid cleaning update.esm and DLCs. whenever i clean them it sometimes deletes essential masters.
