Instead of CTD my game just freezes

I used to have problems with CTDs but I wiped all my mods and skyrim and reinstalled skyrim and got different mods, but now it's freezing every so often. To the point that I can't close skyrim with a task manager, I have to restart my computer to fix it. I'm kinda new to skyrim modding so I was hoping someone could help me.

I tried looking at the papyrus log but I cannot find what's causing the freezing. I'm not that adept at this kinda stuff.

Game starts stuttering outdoors, and it gets worse until the whole PC is on lockdown up to several minutes before the task manager opens?

 

I had this problem, and tracked it down to a massive overkill from Parallax textures. Removed all of them and the issue was gone.

Not sure if this was fixed in latest ENB, i'm using an AMD card with 3GB.

You can tell I'm a scrub with computers because idk what a parallax texture is, I don't think I have any of them to remove. The game doesn't stutter it just all of a sudden freezes.

Fair enough, Parallax textures are usually marked as such in the mod name. It's an outdated technique to add threedimensional depths to surfaces.

 

Just saying that this was the only time i ever had anything lock my PC down for minutes, usually you can open at least the task manager. So i doubt this is anything that Papyrus or an .esp can do, unless you have a REALLY crappy old computer

I think it fixed itself. It must've been one isolated case, because it's been running flawlessly since then.

 

EDIT: Strike that, it happened again. After trying to close it for like 20 minutes I just gave up and restarted my computer again. It happened when the screen tried to fade in after sleeping.
