UnlikelyH3ro Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 In my previous poll about having a page on this site directly for downloading and uploading mods, I decided to make a second poll to get everyone's second opinion. In case you haven't read my 1st poll, I created it because in my opinion, it's too time consuming to search for armor mods in 200+ page threads. I'm a guy that doesn't have much time to spend sitting around on a webpage for several hours at a time trying to find an armor mod I've seen before or searching for one that I may like. After reflecting over everyone's opinions about a new page that may or may not be more costly, an idea occurred to me. What if a tracking center were implemented into the website so users could just track any armor they like and its location, that way we don't have to go looking for it again once we've found it. Since some of us don't want to add to the cost of this website and others like me want an easier way to navigate and find mods on this site, I figured adding a tracking center would be the BEST way to go. It's a win win for everybody.

[/quote'] to many links get tossed around that contain copy writed material that is used without consent. adding trackers would place these forums and its users in the same boat as megaupload. not to mention a large number of mods that are linked to are created by someone other then the person who provided the link. its one thing to say here's a link, but other modders would not particularly like there mods added to a tracker without consent and mods that are hosted on nexus would be blocked by nexus admins anyway. This is essentailly what curse and gmod did that pissed off every modding community I know your frustration, before skyrims release Hanpl was cleaning up the what mod is the thread for oblivion. He attempted to remove the useless posts making easier for others to find mods instead of applauding his efforts to many fucking morons here cried like cunts because some asinine comment they made was removed and there useless post count was lowered the only other solution is for someone to take the time and catalog the mods that have been identified. Verify that the links work and then provide the links to a moderator so that they can update the first page of the thread it is needless to say, a god damned hell of a lot of work which is why none of us have done it, especially since idiots would rather have a fucking post count then a clean thread that would make it easier to find mods and catalog them
gregathit Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 GSBmodders clearly is indifferent to the issue.....no really, he is not inclined one way or the other To be serious I share the same frustration and am looking at a way to clean things up, but it seriously is a F ton of work. Took me 5 hours just to go through the lovers with pk downloads thread and verify that each OP had a working link to the latest version. If Donkey and Galgat weren't so awesomely on top of things for their stuff, it would have taken 3 times as long. To try to do something like this for all the armor/weapons/clothes would be impossible for one person. It would take a ton of folks feeding in mod names with pictures and a link to a single forum and someone crazy enough to update the OP constantly. I would be willing to make a go at it but not without a bunch of folks backing me up. Plus we would have to do only one game at a time!

I will gladly lend a hand, I suggest breaking the thread up by pages. Dedicated x number of pages to a person and have them check those pages for mods and links I also suggest starting with Oblivion, it will be the easiest to clean up as it currently has less activity then FO and Skyrim. Fo has fewer mods linked to here but only a small portion of FO's community come here to find mods. Skyrim will be a nightmare to sort out so we will need to have a working rhythm before jumping into that mess also it'll take more then two of us, we could use at least 5 people with time to spare
gregathit Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I couldn't agree more with your plan. If we can get at least 5 (10 or so would be better) to help do some of the footwork I am willing to do it. I too just shudder thinking of messing with the skyrim section......
UnlikelyH3ro Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Maybe instead of tracking mods themselves, we could track those posts that contain the links to armor sets.

Surenas Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Well, the Nexus has a File Tracking Centre implemented. What are u actually afraid of? To share the fate of the Nexus, hmm?
Guest Loogie Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 How would a tracking center be substantially different from bookmarking links that interest you as you see them?
