FauxFurry Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 As I said many a year ago on Destructoid when the tedious topic of objectification was raised again for whatever flimsy reason: Video Game characters are not people whom we objectify but objects whom we invest with imaginary human traits and values which we hold dear. Any character which I create for use in an Elder Scrolls game play through can be places in simulated sexual situations though not to the same extent as, say, the Chicken Chaser from Fable who can become a transvestite prostitute in the base game or Carl Johnson from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas who can become a pimp who can make money from other pimps' prostitutes by servicing them (through a process not adequately explained for me to maintain my sense of suspension of disbelief if I were an insufferable pedant) or characters such as Don Juan who predate gaming by centuries. In the context that I reoleplay Purrvis the Purrvert as a Khajiit man who takes upon himself the heoic task of leaving no penis within arms-reach of him left untouched, then yes,he could indeed by considered a sexualized object. There are so many non-sexualized objects in the still absurdly prudish, immature gaming industry that they are not only in no danger of being crowded out by similar sexualized objects,it does help allay a bit of my boredom with the industry as a whole's level of squeamishness on the topic of sexuality in general.
