Sometimes, as I know ... Deadly Dragons usually have problems. if not that you should check the mods that incorporate many textures. Incompatibilities mods in one city.

One would think these would simply overwrite each other, but after a week of a rock-solid game, yesterday I started encountering another string of CTDs.  The only mods I had added were a couple of clothing re-textures, that's it.

I ran full LOOT (not the version behind MO's "Sort" button) and found that one of the armor mods, "Skyrim Summer Wear" was filthy dirty with stuff I  had to clean with TES5Edit.  Even that didn't fix the CTDs so I ended up uninstalling that mod.  Save Cleaner then found 1 orphan script, and I haven't had a crash since then.

Who would have thought that one silly little clothing mod could cause so much trouble?  The tools behind and around MO are life savers.  While it sucks that we need so many utilities to keep the game running, it's also true that sometimes we ask it to do things it was never intended to do.

Hi. Interesting to hear, and i'm glad you got your problem sorted out. How do u find "orphan scripts" and know what's causing them and how to delete and get rid of them?

in a previous save game i had, i could tell "organized bandits in skyrim" mod was spawning bandits and it would crash my game even though i had uninstalled the mod to try and get rid of the problem, it would still try to spawn enemies causing crashing.

is there a forums thread or something u could link to point me in the right direction of figuring out problems and solving them?

For finding and cleaning orphan scripts, try Save Cleaner.  Just load your save and it will list what it finds.  Then "delete scripts" will clean up the orphans.  http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31724/?.

The best bet for you is to read Sacremus' "Skyrim Modding Guide", though there are a number of other threads and links in this forum that can also be big help.

It's not a fast or simple process to make Skyrim stable, but with perseverance it can be done.  And, of course, post questions in this section.  There are a bunch of very experienced and knowledgeable people here.

Good luck, mrcraig.  I just went through about a month of frustration and nearly quitting Skyrim because of the constant crashes.  But I stuck with it, listened to advice (especially from Sacremas) and learned more about mods and MO and Wrye Bash and TES5Edit than I ever thought I needed to know :)

Knock on wood but I haven't had another stretch like that, since.  Whenever I do have some CTDs, I'm able to quickly narrow down the causes, diagnose it and fix it.  It's a great feeling despite the constant feeling of anxiety every time I start Skyrim.  Once bitten, twice shy :)
