Robert T Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 If I have files from mods that I no longer use, is it fine to keep them in their folders? I'm planning on starting a new game soon. Will unused esp/bsa and files in the meshes, texture and scripts folders that are used in mods be fine sitting in their current position? Do i have to delete them?
Prometeus5879 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 If the mod's aren't activated they can stay there. But you do have to pay attention when installing new mods that ask to overwrite files, so you don't end up using resources of those old mods again.

I'm not sure what you mean by using resources of the old mods again. You mean that a mod changes to a bsa but then there are left over files from when it wasn't?
Mister X Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 No he maens you have have unused files from uninstalled mods, still hanging around in your /data folder. Now you install another totally new mod, that you've never used. This mod now wnt to alter a file, that already is there idling around from an old mod. If you now tell NOT to overwrite, you can end up with a new mod that uses 3 year old files. -> NOT good. Example: - You have a file, from an old mod, say the file is this: data\textures\interface\objects\logo02_n.dds - That file you already have 3 years, it's totally outdated and you don't even know that it's in your \data folder - Now you install a nice, new mod, you didn't knew yet, eg "Main Menu Spinning Emblem" that needs to use \logo02_n.dds. So it asks to overwrite - But you tell "NO", because you don't know what file it is and which mod makes use of it and you're feared to overwrite sth essential - Now you have your brand-new "Main Menu Spinning Emblem" mod installed, but you're emblem doesn't spin due to the fact that you didn't delete or overwrite the old file
Robert T Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks for the clarification. Thankfully, I already make sure it doesnt happen
