zippy57 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Normally I would write this post in such a way that I would attempt to amuse myself, but I have been attempting to solve this for three days and due to various circumstances this is the fifth time I am having to write this post. A few days ago I was playing Skyrim. I was being a Bad Modder and messing around with mod installations mid-game so when I suddenly started to CTD whenever I went into Dragonsreach I chalked it up to save corruption and started over. But starting over didn't resolve the issue. I trial-and-errored it down to a single plugin being at fault but when I started a new game (to avoid more save corruption) it didn't resolve the issue. After cutting down the load order I discovered that I could coc into Dragonsreach from wherever I wanted as long as I hadn't ever entered Whiterun. A save at the gate worked and a save just after going through them did not. Using coc to get into, say, Breezehome and then exiting into Whiterun and coc'ing into Dragonsreach caused a CTD. A coc into Dragonsreach itself worked from outside Whiterun, but leaving and turning right back around would CTD. I messed with my load order some more and, after dealing with one crash somehow caused by my keyboard and another by TES5Edit being unable to count, I can now enter Dragonsreach exactly one time. Leaving and attempting to come back in is a CTD, but I can enter from anywhere. Also, talking to the Jarl CTDs at "detachment to Riverwood" unless I'm in third-person view. Because why not? Because of the stupid way Skyrim saves work are, I pretty much have to start the game over each time I remove a save if I want to determine this by trial-and-error. I won't deny I have a load order that is probably too big, and that means that since it takes me around two hours to get to where I need to be to test this, testing it on my current install would take approximately six days (with no breaks), which I do not have since I will be on a different system, without Skyrim, for a week or so starting tonight. So I am here in an attempt to save my sanity and maybe get some hints on how to proceed. Papyrus log: Papyrus.1.log With every mod's most detailed debug that I was aware of turned on: Papyrus.0.log Maybe by TES6 we'll have logs that actually record some sort of crash information. zippy57 Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 This is still happening, but in an even more frustrating manner, so any help would be much appreciated. I had managed to get a game going for quite a while but it started again. There have been no changes to the data being loaded at all since the last time I successfully entered Dragonsreach. In fact, I can load an old save in Dragonsreach just fine. Something has caused something else to appear in Dragonsreach and that something else is causing a CTD. It took long enough to find the problem when it only took a couple hours to get to the problem. Now that it's happening thirteen hours in, the trial-and-error method isn't going to work.
