QuiteTheTail Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I hope someone could help me fix this problem. As stated in the topic title, I'm using Realistic Leveling as leveling overhaul, and my char is about to level up for the first time since I have integrated LAPF in my game. In my latest savegame the leveling progress is 98-99%, and any advancement of a major or minor skill (in RL both of them contribute to leveling, although major ones contribute the most) triggers the leveling. As soon as I read the leveling message and close the dialog, I get a CTD. The only clue I can provide is the music that's playing upon leveling, which I recognised to be the leveling theme from Skyrim. EDIT In the meantime I've been thinking of a workaround. It relies on a peculiarity of realistic leveling: it doesn't require a clean save rebulding of bashed patch because it's not listed as its master. Can be installled anytime, even for a char already developed. Primary and secondary attributes are recalculated and the changes are more or less dramatic depending on the leveling scheme used before. In my case, for example, the differences should be negligible. If all else fails, I could safely disable RL, advance to the next level, and then re-enable RL. Not sure if this is going to work, but it's worth a try.
QuiteTheTail Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 My blind luck. I was thinking of the possible mods that could have a hand in the leveling mechanics, or in modifying menus and loading screens. My best guess was Monstergirl or LoversBitch (I hope the authors won't bash me for thinking they were responsible). I tried disabling Emily's mod first. Bash message: 1 children deactivated, Bashed Patch. Now the clean save, but... why not trying leveling first? Made a couple of potion, fixed my armor, and voilà! Leveled without a hitch. It is strange though, the music from Skyrim is still there. I won't daresay that monstergirl is incompatible with RL (casual crashes are frequent in Oblivion, and whathappened to me could be just a coincidence) but if someone should have the same problem could try this method.
varenne Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 You may want to be a it more specific about which Monstergirl MOD, for it to be useful for others. I don't recall any PC leveling constructs in any of the Monstergirl series of MODs that would have an affect on Realistic Leveling. I think there is something else going on with your selection of MODs that warrants a deeper review.
QuiteTheTail Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 The version I use is [MONSTER-GIRL] coc 1.4 (PLAGUE.Patch 27.11.2013) As I said, I'm more inclined to think it's just a coincidence what happened to me. Your interpretation is certainly correct, and I'm already hard at work with BOSS and BOSS Userlist Manager (thanks ljacquard for the suggestion) to track any outdated-dirty-problematical mod in my list. Still, it's amazing how just unchecking a box in Wrye Bash allowed me to overcome the problem. I can only think of a possible alternative explanation: mod X is compatible with RL; mod X is compatible with Monstergirl; all three are incompatible. Mod X is the culprit. (Interesting note: Realistic Leveling is just an .esm file, doesn't contain any plugin...) EDIT Looks like a more recent patch for monstergirl-coc.esp is available for download. I must have missed it, got to check it out. (More than one, actually. A lot.) I've put aside Monstergirl for now. I'm eager to include other mods (particularly LAPF mods) in my collection, to obtain a robust basic setup. I will reconsider using it later, when I'll be more confident in my modding know-how. There are contents I'd wish to make optional (the TESV leveling theme and the intro Video.bik for instance).
