special
I have just begin modding and am having some issues when in game.I have taken a nif, imported it into 3DS Max 2012. First issue, there are no textures in 3DS Max, my mesh is white ? I edit the mesh, create a new skin and then a new BSDismember Modifier (I am following Nightesy's guides)I then export my .nif and put it into the DATA folder replacing the original file I am editing.Second issue, when I get in game, the mesh is working correctly, moving with the actor etc but it is completely black ?I had a google and most people say it is because in NifScope the Use Vertex Colors needs to match in the NiTriShapeData & the Shader 2 Flags under BSLightingShaderProperty. In my case, the Shader 2 Flags did not have SLSF2_Vertex_Colors selected so I made sure Use Vertex Colors was set to NO.This did not fix my problem and my Mesh is still black in game. Could someone help me solve this problem? thanks in advance. Link to comment
ZaZ
Best would be copy a BSLightingShaderProperty block from an existing armor past it in your Nif and set your texture paths , delete the existing BSLightingShaderProperty block first, If they still show black , enable vertex colours and it will work Link to comment

What am I doing wrong? Link to comment
ZaZ
Make sure the NiTrishape block is highlighted is all , it should paste there Copy Branch and Paste Branch , You can have both nifs open , I usually do ctrl c and ctrl v to do branch copies . crtl delete to delete branches Link to comment

When I 'copy branch' and paste I get an error saying things cannot be mapped. I've had these problems before but can't remember the solution. Will try again tonight when I get home from work. special
What version of Nifskope are you using ?So I tried Ctrl+C Ctrl+V instead of using right mouse menu copy / right mouse menu paste and it worked. Haven't been able to try the mesh yet as I have not been well today. I am using nifscope 1.1.3 Will redo the mesh in a day or two when I am feeling up to it and let you know if the black textures are solved. Thanks Link to comment

I've managed to get it all working now, the textures are no longer black in game. I ended up just copying / pasting with Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V and everything worked as I would have expected with the right mouse menu. Oh well, problem solved. thanks again. Link to comment
