Darkrai110 Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 So a day or so ago i downloaded a mod that seemed interesting. it had to be manually installed and basically replaced a few animations for FNIS. Well i was an idiot and didnt backup my stuff prior and my game wouldnt load. So i tried deleting it. still wont work. uninstalled skyrim then reinstalled it, still crashes the instant the menu loads. and now im at a loss. i cant play skyrim at all, ive searched google and found nothing and i dont know what to do. I have a back up saved from steam but cant figure out how to get it to access the back ups instead of redowloading all of my files from the cloud. Can anyone help?
halieslade Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 When you tell Steam to Remove Local Content, it doesn't touch your mods and probably not your custom scripts. Check your data\scripts folder. If deleting those scripts and telling Steam to "Verify game cache" does not work, try manually wiping out everything but your .esp files (after backing things up, of course) and do the reinstall again. In the future, you might try using Mod Organizer and creating profiles -- which are essentially backups of your game loadout. Then when you install something that borks your Skyrim, you can revert to an older profile and proceed without doing the uninstall/reinstall.
Darkrai110 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 Didnt work. Still crashes at the menu. the logos will show up then it crashes
modslave Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Didnt work. Still crashes at the menu. the logos will show up then it crashes CTD on logo start up is usually associated with a missing master file. Get TES5Edit and run a basic scan of your load order to see if it throws an error for a missing master file.
halieslade Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Didnt work. Still crashes at the menu. the logos will show up then it crashes When you press the "Sort" key in MO, you're running LOOT, which will give you a report. Read the warnings and errors in that list to see what is wrong.
Darkrai110 Posted February 21, 2015 Author Posted February 21, 2015 ok i ran LOOT and TES5edit. and loot tells me to clean some stuff with TES5edit so i booted it up and it starts going though my files till it hits an error [00:23] Background Loader: [Devious Devices - Assets.esm] Loading file [00:23] Background Loader: Fatal: <EOSError: System Error. Code: 2. The system cannot find the file specified> [00:26] Background Loader: finished thats what it says. so i figured devious devices is having a problem so i redownloaded it but this error still pops up.
modslave Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 DDA is an independent file from DD itself. Its right here: http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/269-devious-devices-assets/

That means it is missing a master file, so as the poster above said. You need another file in addition to that.
Darkrai110 Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 I re-installed DDA and I'm still getting the error
nutluck Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 When you run TES5Edit does it still crash at the same spot? If so then you are still missing a master file or your load order is not correct.
Darkrai110 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 got skyrim working again. deleted DDA and anything related to it.
