Mod Organizer isn't putting files into the skyrim data folder.

I just reinstalled MO and Skyrim after taking a long break but I realized MO isn't putting any files into the data folder. I tried to install the SKSE scripts as an archive through MO and they are not appearing in the scripts folder. I doubled checked with another mod to make sure it wasn't the SKSE archive I made and that mod didn't show up either. Anyone have any ideas?

Isn't that the main feature of MO? I recommend you to go and watch all the tutorial by Gopher in youtube. I did it that way and got zero problems.

I did. I'm not a complete idiot (I think).

:dodgy:

MO's files are in A virtual folder not the actual folder so if you are looking at the Skyrim Data folder you will not see any changes. That is the purpose of MO. If you want to see the virtual folder in action you will have to find a program that allows that to be done. You can find some examples somewhere on the STEPS pages for MO. In the end if you install some mods that make changes you can check and they work.. MO is working. I would post further questions on the Unofficial Thread here (link in Sig)

No problem. It is a unique program and takes a bit of time to understand the full capabilities of it. Once you start to understand how and what it does you will be amazed at what you can do with it. It is almost a must for Skyrim without it I would have given up on Skyrim modding a long time ago. Other managers are fine for Oblivion and even Fallout. FOMM is rock solid but the complexities and scripts and all that going on in Skyrim... Yep MO only for me.

Read through some of the STEPS entries and explanation. It took me a couple of months to get to where I am at truly understanding the program and I still don't know it all. I regularly go to the Unofficial Mo thread here and keep up with current problems and events r/t MO and learn a bit more each time. Trust me.. I have made some serious bone headed mistakes as well.

Well, you said it and asked the single most often asked and most idiotic question about MO ever asked, Feature number 1 on the Description page. So you're not alone, yet you claim to be a returning user.

I'm not picking on you, just pointing out these common assumptions of knowledge are often wrong.

I'm widely accepted to be a MO "Expert", yet even I learn new things about it from other peoples guides and advice.

I strongly recommend all MO users watch Gopher's Guides on MO, they are accurate, upto to date and vetted by the MO Support Team.

Gopher assumes the user has no prior knowledge which can appear long winded when, you presume you already know it all. However that's when you learn something new. What you thought you knew isn't true, whether you just got it wrong or MO's just changed. Even when you do actually know it all, watching another modder do things another way, can teach you better ways of doing a task. There's usually more than one way of achieving the same end result.

Gopher's Guides are particularly helpful for migrating an existing character, which he does with his Let's Play Characters, he is a full time YouTuber and they are his most valuable assets, showing how to safely transfer from NMM to MO (Make Archives in short) and shows how easy it actually is.

The New Vegas ones are still being made, Skyrim is complete.

No matter how much you think you know, watch them and you will learn something.

MO today is not the same MO as the last version, MO a year ago was a totally different Manager.

Only vanilla files in Data folder, with a pool of mods that all profiles can use, will always be the core features.

Many other things have changed in that time.

Reading the Docs is also a good idea, see my signature for Official Docs and Support Forum.

Using Mods without RTFM is something we all do, nothing wrong with that, but never ask for help before you RTFM, when you have a problem is when you should RTFM.

So RTFM, before you ask anyone for help.

Oh and "The Manual" isn't just a ReadMe, it's wherever the Mods Support Forum is as well.
