Is there another solution to get the dialog of SexLab working?

Hello everyone, my first time here so please forgive me if I do things wrong...

A few days ago I finally worked up the nerve to install my first mod into skyrim and that one worked fine. So, now knowing on how to get around this I installed another: SexLab

Just for the fun of it and so... I started my game and started to play to see what kind of funny things would happen now to my poor guineapiggy avatar LOL

Well... Not much I have to sadly say. No dialog is appearing from the SexLab mod. I went out and started to search for a solution, found it but......... I need another installation for that that is sadly enough for me on a site that requiers membership that has to be payed for.

My problem entirely cause I have no account that lets me get the available payment ways work. (I live in the Netherlands and the bankaccount is a special one ergo locked off for internetpayments... I know, completely dumb but it's one of those life problems one has to learn to live with).

The mod is called "Better dialogue controls" and can be found on Nexus.

My question is, is there a simular mod that I can download that will help me with this or is it just now a matter of "Sorry but all you have left is just remove the other mod you hoped to get to work and live with it"?

I hope there can be a way that I can still have it work. :) Everyone thanks in advance for your time and effort in thinking allong.

Better dialogue controls is not the answer to your problem because you have no problem (probably). Sexlab has no dialogue and does nothing by itself. It is a framework used by other mods to call up animations. You would do well to read up on Sexlab  starting with the pinned threads. It's an amazing piece of work but it is useless if you don't know how to use it. Once you have it installed correctly you're ready to install mods that depend on Sexlab. These mods are conveniently indexed here.

And if you ever have a genuine problem with Sexlab or other mods found here the solution to which involves paying someone money, then someone is trying to rip you off.

P.S. Nexus is also a free site. You don't have to pay for a membership to download mods from there.

Hi MyBrainHurts,

Thank you for your quick responce. I fear that I have not expressed the problem correctly... (Or I may have understood and misread the workings of the mod completely wrong wich could ofcourse also be the case, if that is so, then I am sorry on forhand to be so blind).

With dialogue I mean the additional text that should be popping up in screen. That is not popping up and with what I have read about this mod it should actually just do that, give you new text that is intermixed with the original Skyrim text.

In the faq of the specific mod it states if that is not popping up this could be due to the fact that Skyrim text programming is based for the PSP/XBox variation of the game, and that appears to be different then the PC version, they just adapted it a bit and well it works but it can go wonky when a moderator adds text to it (as is done with the mod installed). That is at least what I made up out of the faq on the matter. I am playing a pc version and so I figured that may be the problem here as well. The solution, they state, is downloading a fix for this "miscommunication between machinery and programming" is to get the "better dialogue controls" mod and all should be set right. I can not confirm this since... and there is the second problem... It is available on Nexus.

Nexus has various levels on where one can place ones items for download to the public. Yes there are free downloads to be gotten, but... Some are placed under the level that you have to sign up to get them. Okay that could be free, if that is the case I may be doing something wrong cause when I want to register there, aka make an account as they specifically demand for anyone to download whatever from them, I get a list of payment memberships of various degree's and that is it, it does not let me register for free. And that is maybe my error, could also be a glitch, but what ever it is, for me it is locked off, that is for sure.

I hope that clears up the request of my side a bit. Sorry if I have not been more clear... I will see if I can find more myself, but since I am dutch and not native english speaking I could use a little hand in this :) Cause what you say is true, but then... they should somehow show up at a point in the game... Any hint or anything... And that is what I mean... Nothing is seen in the game, even though I know it is properly installed, loaded nicely in the game...

Only text you should have popping up is the notification that it has been installed when you load a character for the first time with sexlab loaded.

It is a framework. A pack of resources which are used by other mods to work.

Sexlab alone doesnt do much. Tho you may use its MCM options to check if its working (MCM>Sexlab>Animation Editor tab).

If it would play you can start installing sexlab based mods which would add playable content.

If it wont play - then you're missing something.

Ahaaaaa!! Now that... makes sense. :) Thank you Aqqh. I will try that right away. And my excuses to all that have been reading and thinking allong... I indeed then seem to have misunderstood the discription that went allong with it :) Thanks Aqqh. :) Will let it know what the outcome was. I think it should be resolved now then :)

For the record, Nexus doesn't require paid membership. You can create a free account and download mods with that. The paid account is only to disable advertisement and help support the site.

Additionally, Better Dialogue Controls is not a requirement of any SexLab-based mod. It may be a recommended mod, especially for SexLab mods that use dialogue, but never a requirement. As long as you have the SexLab framework installed, plus another SexLab mod that uses the framework, you'll be able to start sex scenes.

Thanks WraithSlayer :)

Yep indeed on the part of Nexus... I ehm... overlooked something (yeah yeah hit me, I have glasses but they do not always work with me :P

But... I am still overlooking another item as well... Text is now up and running... Now it is the animations that just... are not fired. That one I will be able to tackle though. I think I am missing one crutial one for that. So I will find it, I will just have to go by it all step by step.

On the note of the matter of Better Dialogue Controls... I never stated it was a must to have it, however it was stated in the faq that in case there may be an issue with text appearing on use... That might be the one installation that could solve it. And well... it did apparently since I have the text now popping up.

I thank all that have been thinking allong :) Specially Aqqh cause you gave me there a tip that I had actually overlooked :P And it was sooooo simple LOL Anyways, popped in there and have that part covered. :) Thanks for that :)

The problem of the question is hereby solved, at least for me :) Thank you all!
