tm2dragon Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Is there a thread or video series that serves to compare the various HDT overhauls and how they effect different body types? How do different HDT settings effect different bodies, such as CBBE, UNP, etc? Are there videos/gifs to offer a visual reference so that we can make an educated choice? A well organised guide into the various options with visuals would be a GODSEND to us tech-illiterates, as it can be a time-consuming and frustrating hassle to get just ONE body/setting combo working, much less check them all out!
TheDriedFinger Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Any given HDT Preset will work, as intended by the creator, only on the body that it is made for, and even then only at the specific body weight it was made for. Using the same HDT Preset, you will find that there can be dramatic differences as to how well (that's subjective) it looks depending on the body used and the weight used. That's not mentioning collision. Collision is dependent on the interaction of invisible RigidBodies that are set in the HDT .xml. Ideally, the RigidBodies would have to be properly lined up with the hands and the breasts. This further explains why you can't properly compare the same HDT Preset over several different bodies: the locations of the RigidBodies remain the same, yet the apparent location of several features of the bodies have changed. The decision process should generally be to first choose a body, and then to find an appropriate HDT Preset for it or to make a preset for it.

TheDriedFinger Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Yeah, very easy to miss in the "Just For Fun (JFF)" editor by monsto. I'm assuming you mean the location of RigidBodies. In JFF, by default, the "RigidBodies" section is displayed first over "Constraints". Double-clicking any of these RigidBodies reveals the most-commonly edited parameters. Hidden in plain sight, under "Constraint" is a box that can be clicked, beside "Shape". In the default .xml, the Breasts assume the shape "hkpCapsuleShape", which makes sense because this shape is sort of like the oral capsule medications (one side sticks out, aligned with the breasts). You'll see Vertex 1, Vertex 2, and Radius. I will try to explain what these each do to my knowledge. The capsule can be described as being two spheres on the ends that are connected by a cylinder, forming the characteristic shape. Each Vertex gives the location of the center of its respective sphere, and the Radius gives the radii of the spheres (and the connecting cylinder).
Silvermetal Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Even though a comparison thread might not be very viable, a topic listing HDT presets that users uploaded to the internet would be very useful...
blabba Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Instead of asking others. Just do it. Not like others around here have some "inside" knowledge on presets and their locations. It's literally just a google search and compilation of links into a thread.
