Got to love obscure FOMM error messages heh. Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling FOMM? Something might have become corrupted.

Looking on Nexus, some people have been having issues in the past with Steamapps being located in the Program Files (x86) folder (Steam has been a major source of headaches in all their games for me). Some others have reported FOMM crashing when checking for new FOMODs (though that option's always been disabled by default whenever I've installed it so unless you enable it manually I doubt that's the issue).

It's a shame bypassing Steam is 'illegal' tbh, it solves a *lot* of issues. :@

Actually it is not steam that is the problem but rather F'ing microsoft. UAC is what is causing all the issues if you have installed steam into the default location (program files directory). Simply moving steam to another spot, be it the root of your C:\ drive or another hard disk is enough to bypass all of the issues (example:

C:\Steam\ or C:\Games\Steam\ work great).
