Proper Procedure

This community seems pretty helpful, and I already asked about body replacers on here before, but if this is not the right place to ask, please point me in the right direction. I like UNPBB but CBBE seems to have better support, so say I wanted to get the base CBBE body with HDT. Hair, breasts, belly, the works. How do I do this? I've found a couple of guides, but they all seem old or they conflict. Does the CBBE installer come with HDT or can you add it with BodySlide 2, do i need a Havok Object thing, do I need/can I use T/BBP animations, do I need http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54044/? ? or something else? Which Skeleton? I've already tried a couple of different things, but results are always weird. Some advice or a link to an up to date guide would be fabulous. Tanks in advance.

Well, seems you already answered most of your own questions.

(What's unpbb?) Oh it's unp blessed body redux.

Any unp variant is compatible with any unp variant, the size and such might differ slightly in the breasts or whatever, same as with any cbbe variant. You could have cbbe manga body and try wearing cbbe default clothes and have a huge difference unless you shift some vertices around in bodyslide/outfit studio. I've got both cbbe and unp armors in my load order. I've tinkered with all of them to get to a happy place and fit my preferred body mesh. (It takes tons of time if there's not a bodyslide conversion available to get close to the unpcm before I start fitting)

You're as limited as your determination to get it to fit. (Or just hunt around, someone has done, or is in the process of converting what you want to wear to some other body type)

Your basic requirements for hdt is:

  • weights compatible body (bodyslide 2 has CBBE Body HDT inside it to build and Cbbe 3.3 comes with the updated bodyslide2), and armors
  • XPMSE Skeleton (found here)
  • HDT 14.28 (Also found here) I use the hdtpe by monsto with a smaller breast physics xml someone kindly posted
  • A little knowledge on how to inject the femalehead.nif if you want to forgo the havok object and keep an esp space and an attachment space free
  • A little knowledge and the JFF tool on finding the right combination inside the xml for you. HDT is -not- a one size fits all application. It depends on your computer, your tastes, your body size, the weights that mesh body has built in. Takes a little bit of rooting around in the hdt section and playing with different xml to find the right combination for you.

There are tutorials to fix the weird issues with armors that were built wrong and putting them up to date with the new, correct skeletons. There's tons of information about the xml things, albeit scattered all over the place that you really can't take it all in at once. (trust me I tried) You don't need a ton of different stuff to get it to work, simplest is usually the easiest. It's a bit of a learning curve because you really do -have- to tailor it to your own mesh weights. (depending on which body you're using could make it easier or more difficult)

It's a lot less scary if you break it up into parts. And work on just that before adding in all of your other mods to make sure there isn't some lag of some sort interfering with the havok.
