jonas_opines Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Sometimes, you just get tired of trying to troubleshoot and see if anybody else has fixed this problem . . . I'm having real issues with draw distance and blocky textures from distance. You can see the pic below. I have an ATI Radeon 2 gb, HD 7800 gpu. I've got everything set in the game launcher settings to the highest they go, but I still get this issue where textures don't load properly until I'm pretty much right on top of them. Here's what I've tried so far. Updated my video drivers. Validated my game cache. Increased the tree and object lod in the fallout-prefs.ini file to double what they were. Increased the fsplitdifferencemult to 5 from 1.5. Increased ugrids to 7 Anything you can suggest. Updating
shardoom Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I had something similar happen to me a while back, except it only seemed to affect water. Never ever did work out what was causing it. In the end I used backup unmodified ini's to reset everything back to default and slowly re-modified it, swore off using the configator and never had the problem again. Drastic, but it worked.
BruceWayne Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Do you have any mods that change the way LOD works? The screenshot looks like two levels rendered at once. If I had to guess: I suspect ugrids, namely that the engine tries to render a cell like you were there, on top of how it would usually render a LOD-reduced version of it.
jonas_opines Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 I don't think so but I guess I can't be sure. I have a pretty minimal load order mostly geared for making my comics and modding. Clothes and pose mods, a bunch of my own with characters and clothes and settings, a few new world-spaces, and a few general necessities like invisible wall remover. I never did a whole lot of tweaking to my ini files until trying to fix this issue. But at the same time, I've been porting over my entire data file a few times now on new computers rather than reintroducing mods one at a time. I wonder if I need to do a full reinstall?
