Vhaltyr Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Currently getting some black textures on my skyrim game, and it really is unplayable. Most of the time the black textures appear on my modded textures (ground, character face, trees, some houses). My GPU is a 750 ti and I'm running skyrim on ultra with a bunch of HD textures. I've turned off a few of them (SMI,, but the problem is still persisting. I've verified my files through steam and my game is pretty stable :L.
Dallas-Arbiter Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 You'll think I'm a lunatic, but your GPU does not have enough ram. Simple as that. The textures are just too large. You can work around it, by opening them in something like paint.net, and then simply saving them. It compresses them down to where the GPU can render them properly. I had the same problem after using Texture Blender, the female body diffuse texture went from 10mb to 65mb, within a minute of playing, the texture would turn black. I opened the texture in paint.net, and simply saved it, the file size dropped to 16mb, and I can't see any loss in quality, since I did that, the body textures do not turn black anymore.
Vhaltyr Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 So... what? Do I turn off 2K textures? I can probably live with that, but it stopped turning black when I put a fan in front of my computer so it might just be my computer overheating (in a temporary location, not enough room on desk).
