zzz72w3r Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 I ran into a problem using nikskope to replace vanilla NPC faces with ones from custom follower mods. I got the look I wanted except for some texture problem I couldn't figure out. If I use the dds file from the FaceTint folder of the source custom follower mod, I got color mismatch between face and body. If I use default i.e. do not load the FaceTint dds file, face texture matches the body but my NPC got bags under her eyes like she hasn't slept in days. I don't think this is from my texture mods since the only NPC with bags under eyes are the ones I replaced the head meshes. PS: please do not reply "get her some coffee", someone posted a similar question back in 2012 in other forums and that useless response has lingered since and kept appearing in Google searches
Dubhorizon Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 It's because the head is still getting textures from the previous mod. You have to change the texture path in nifskope to the new mod's textures.

You have to change the texture path in nifskope to the new mod's textures. Are you referring to color mismatch between face and head? I realized that's from using FaceTint of the source mod so I point textures under "head" to vanilla path like this and use CK generated FaceTint instead: textures\actors\character\female\FemaleHead.dds This gets the color of face and body to match, however, now the NPC has bags/eyeshadow under her eyes, the lack of sleep look. The eyeshadow is not present in the source mod nor if I use the FaceTint from the source mod (which resulted in texture mismatch). Eye shadows are not present in unaltered NPC. I tried to see in CK if I can alter eye tint but I think that's from ECE or RM.
Dubhorizon Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 well, if you want to safely transfer one race's head to another body you will need to also transfer the faceparts too. If you're having eye problems, try transfering the eyes as well. About my previous comment I meant this: The head nif cannot get texture sets fom CK. You need to set it through nifskope. Look at attached pic.
zzz72w3r Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 Thanks for the reply, I think I figure out what was the problem. The NPC in question is Ysolda and after going over CK line by line it turns out that vanilla Ysolda does have bags under her eyes. I think she's unique in that regard because no one else in Whiterun does. I did remove it with an esp and Ctrl F4 but now I think I will keep the eyeshadow since Bethesda probably did it for the lore (her "secret") but I need to find another face because the one I was using is too sweet
