What is your Favourite Overhaul and why?

Recommended Posts

I have a small question to the SPERG users here : Does it affect difficulty and if so, how much?

One of the main reasons I've stuck to SkyRe all this time is that it makes the difficulty just right. It ain't too hard, but if I'm not careful I may very well screw up and die. However, it is true that it needs a painful amount of compatibility patches, work-arounds and overall research on every mod you use to do it's job, which makes me wonder about trying out SPERG.

Since it's only a perk overhaul, I'm guessing it's not affecting the difficulty though, which brings another possible question : what other gameplay mods are you guys using in your SPERG setup?

I think SPERG seems pretty lightweight compared to skyre or Perkus Maximus. Things like difficulty or AI mods make it very easy to customise your load order to suit your playstyle, whereas Skyre needed so many compatibility mods for almost everything, plus theres the reproccer to make modded weapons compatible. It's better in a way, and it does make SPERG a little bit overpowered in the fact it seems a little easier.

SPERG make game easy, perk are tooo OP here.

ASIS,WTF,HLE,RoE,SIC,OBIS,Combat evolved,TaB,DA,DC.

Even with this on legendary. Its no chalange latter.

I don't entirely know what all of the abbreviations mean XD

ASIS,WTF,OBIS are name, High level enemy,Revenge of Enemy,Skyrim immersive creature,Trade and barter,Death alternative,Deadly combat.

SPERG is pretty awesome because it's lightweight and gets along with most mods very well, it's not so pervasive that you couldn't jam in a few specialist overhauls alongside it, which is what I've always done in the past. I've never got on with SkyRe, it was far too in your face for my tastes.

But I've been playing with Perkus Maximus for the last few days, and it's just on a whole other level. SPERG you could almost forget you're running, especially with the autoperks. PerMa is all over your game like a rash.  It really is quite game changing. What I like about it is that I can experience these grand sweeping changes to how virtually everything works and still run my favourite AI and combat mods.

So yeah, PerMa is fast becoming my favourite overhaul - didn't see that coming tbh, I was fully prepared to dislike it as intensely as I did SkyRe.

I just couldn't get it running myself. I had problems with the patcher, it kept crashing, it wouldn't let me use the extra application to provide more memory, when it did run, it kept crashing. I minimalised my load order but no dice. I might try it again after a few updates, but i'm pretty content with SPERG at the moment.

Does High level enemy get damage spongy after level 60+?

If it does indeed level all enemy to player level using vanilla scaling methods I can imagine humanoid ending up with like thousands of health.

Pretty much, but if you use ASIS, WTF and things like OBIS and Revenge of the Enemies; it's all quite a lot of variety. I don't notice HLE that much if i'm honest, but I'd probably notice if it wasn't there if you know what I mean.

Oh definitely, I found it an unholy bitch to get up and running, took me two days of doggedly worrying at the damned thing before it would complete without throwing up an error.

If you read some of the things EnaiSiaion has had to say about how PerMa fucks with his stuff, you have to wonder how one of his mods even got to be fully integrated with it. I'm a big fan of that guy's mods and I know from experience that all those I've used got along very well with SPERG, so I don't blame you for sticking with it.

Are you using MO, If so I take it you made sure it was pointing to a 32bit version of Java? That's been the big cause of problems patching a minimal load order, along with the memory header issue.

In my case it took a day of activating mods one by one  to find  out that it was an out of date version of the Fire and Ice esp that was causing my patch to fail. TBH I probably can't justify the time investment in getting it working, but I'm glad I did anyways, it's pretty good.
