x5z8 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 So I need to use ECE for the slot save feature because I have a slot saved and can't access it with Racemenu saved. On my game that I'm trying to load the slot save, I've had Racemenu active for all of the playthrough, and when I try to load that save with Racemenu uninstalled, whenever I try saving where I'm at or waiting, I CTD. Is there some way to safely uninstall Racemenu, or some workaround to access my slot save without uninstalling Racemenu?
dork42 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 First thing I would suggest is switching to Mod Organizer as a mod manager if you haven't. Alleviates these kinds of problems. Did you run TES5Edit, just let it load everything up. Handy way to find possible oopsies in your load order. Disabling a mod but forgetting about another that counts on that mod being there. Not sure if Racemenu adds scripts, but there are Savegame cleaners out there to clean out bloat, but also scripts embedded in your saves from mods used and then uninstalled. Make sure you uninstalled any Racemenu plugins that you may have added. Also try to start a new game with the ECE instead of the Racemenu, once you get to saveable point, try loading in the savegame of the character in progress you want to change.
gvman3670 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Did you uninstall all the other stuff that relies on RM, like overlays and such? Have you gone through your /data/ folder and made sure to remove every trace of RM? Because there are racemenu.bsa, racemenu.esp and racemenuplugin.esp to remove. And then there are files in /SKSE/plugins/ called chargen.dll, chargen.ini, nioverride.dll and nioverride.ini to remove as well.
hentaijin Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 What dork42 said. If you do more than a little light modding and nothing more NMM might work for you. But anything beyond that mod organizer is better! It's more advanced so it's a little more involved using it, but it makes uninstalling stuff a breeze. You will never again uninstall something and wonder if you got rid of all the files or not with MO.

Found some loose racemenu files that weren't removed by NMM.
