Thorazine Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 My game is freezing up when I try to choose the female gender of this race' date=' anyone have a clue why? [/quote'] Same has happened to me even when starting a new game. All the sliders under the Body tab kinda lags. The rest of the sliders under the different tabs seem to work properly. Also running into showracemenu freezing the game when already a female Ashen. Don't know if it's related, but I also have hair mods from THIS thread installed.
ahddubbuddah Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 if you use the set race command to make your character a different race before using the show race menu command it will still lag for a few minutes but it will eventually load
Seren Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Yeah, I had quite a few setbacks last week. I had a tremendous amount of work for university, which has its priority over modding, and the friend of mine who's making texture had about the same issue for his job. He started texturing again yesterday. I finally have some space to actually breathe since today, so I'll rest for today and try to get some work done on the race again tomorrow. I have a patch ready since the start of last week, but I haven't had the chance to actually test it anymore. So that's what I'll do and then release it if it increases stability. (Which it most likely will) The lag/crashing upon trying to load the race makes me wonder if it's a memory issue from within Skyrim. Ever since I'm running some heavy ENB it took like 13 seconds to load my race in showracemenu. The crash could be caused by Skyrim running out of its 4GB (3,7 if I remember correctly) when using a lot of mods, especially heavy ones.
guilmonex Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Mmm, ENB is good for taking screenshots but worst on gameplay, it lower the fps and slow down your game. Have a good rest. I'm using futanarium now, it uses the original CBBE textures. So, you can drop the little request I asked before.
Seren Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Alright, version 1.1c is now live. It will add a better overall stability (especially when using other race mods) and fixes several bugs. CHSBHC support and a french translation are also added. Check it out: The Ashen - Oriental Beauty Race V1.1c

guilmonex Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Can't see neck seam on your screenshot, but I see it in game.
Seren Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 You mean this annoying little neck seam that appears under certain lighting conditions? It's really strange, because the textures weren't changed since v1.1b+hotfix. I checked the plugin in the CK and I did notice one oddity; the specular map doesn't show up anymore after this new patch. I don't know if that means it's also messed up in-game, but I have my doubts because the mesh still refers to it. I noticed the neck seam before I applied the new update to my own game(so I was running v1.1b+hotfixes) and that was after the new patch... What body are you using? CBBEv3? Could you try and see what happens when you use the previous version?
guilmonex Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 That's what I meant. I'm using CBBEv3, trying previous version now. Edit: Tested, I don't think there is a difference between C and B verison.
Seren Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Thanks for testing. I thought so... hmm... This makes me wonder if the problem lies with the game doing something wrong when loading the specular map after this new patch. I once tried switching it for another before the game had this update and a neck seam appeared. Also, the game tends to switch to the default option when a custom texture can't be found and I must say my Ashen do actually look like they're using the specular map I have for the default races instead of their own. I'll look into this and keep you updated.
Seren Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Released a quick hotfix for this new version. I figured that the new warpaint was messing up the saves and it'd be best to remove them. Saving now totally saves all aspects of your character's make-up! Go to the mod's file page on nexus for the download (just 20kb!) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8583
BurningSol Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I'm curious since this at least from what I'm reading from the thread title that it's an "oriental" race. I was wondering if you could possibly make the males look more Asian like (I wouldn't even mind some Pop-Star Asian male like features if possible)? The females look nice, however the males not so much. No, I'm not trying to be critical, but I'm just curious because as a person who is irl, Asian, and a male at that, I would like to be able to create a male who who can fit that look.
Seren Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 The Oriental part refers to the original mod it got its textures from. I didn't make the textures and I can do very little about them. That being said, I did my best for the male presets but it takes some time to get the default male head + its morphs to create a more asian-looking male since it was made for Caucasian races. The male variant was included so it's not entirely vanilla, but the style of the texture itself is still quite different from the females. My new texture artist, who's working on the high-res female textures, said he may want to retexture the male ones as well, but I wouldn't wait for it because even if he makes them it will take a long time for them to be finished. Just try to fiddle around as much as you can with the sliders and presets, because I know you can get quite close to the look you probably want. I saw a pic somewhere of someone who managed to get like this Japanese popstar look.
Seren Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 I've had reports that the hotfix for 1.1c makes the game crash on start-up... Does anyone here have that problem or can I assume those people either have a pirated copy or didn't activate the new ESM?
guilmonex Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 No crash, except the old one, loading her save after playing a original race.
Seren Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 And another hotfix is out for v1.1c. It has fixed fixes (ironic, I know ) and will ensure the race works better. Hotfix #2 for The Ashen V1.1c
Xenokey Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 is this race compatible with the extended colour palette mod or am I just doing something wrong? I try to patch the race again and again but nothing changes. also, when I go into the showracemenu I have a fewer hair selection than before (with the current hair not in the list).
erato123 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Been using this body for a 2 weeks+ along with the recommended Ran face mod. It does look better than any other race IMO. This is my character
Lenfried Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Hmm, for some reason the glossy skin mod I have doesn't work for this race, not a big problem though.
Seren Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 @Xenokey It should be compatible. That mod's author actually sent me a working copy once (outdated, though), try checking if you've done everything well by going to that mod's page. Also, you say you're missing certain hair... this never occurs to me or my two testers. Are you 100% sure you have the ESM activated as well? Also, if you installed with NMM did you upgrade properly by choosing "No" to upgrade, BUT choosing "Yes to all" when asked to overwrite the files. @Erato123 Thanks! She looks great. I don't know what's taking my friend the texture artist so long, because I really wanna see everybody's character with a high-res look. @Lenfried This race doesn't work like a default one. It comes with its own textures and head mesh. Try seeing if you can update those.
Critical Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 What do we have to modify to make the race use the extended slider colors? edit:arf nevermind, I only just noticed there's a too on the mod's page

[/quote'] it seems I didnt upgrade properly between the versions. guess I missed that step. now everything is working except that my character misses the face until I change the race with the showracemenu. I wanted to change the hair color anyway. thank you for the help. goddamn you showracemenu for messing up my stats. go to hell :<
Critical Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Whenever I try to use the showracemenu command my skyrim "hangs" i can still hear the ambient sound but the screen freezes and nothing happens.
