Half of the world randomly missing after steam fail

Something funny happened today.

After leaving Skyrim alone for a few days, Steam insisted on checking my video settings on start up.

Since that happened, some textures are missing, NPCs have black eyes, and in some areas (indoors mostly), half of the world pops in and out of existence. It looks like the meshes are facing the wrong way and displayed away from me, not at me.

I checked the integrity of Steam's files and one file was compromised and re-acquired (no word on which file though).

I do have ENB enabled (latest version) but turning it off doesn't fix anything.

The only mod I added recently was Skooma Whore, to test with with SD+ and an update of Inconsequential NPCs released today.

I don't know what else to try at this point other than start a new game and enable mods in waves until I find the culprit.

I am posting this in case someone finds this issue familiar and has suggestions about what else to try.

Did you turn off Your ENB by changing bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 to bFloatPointRenderTarget=0?

Have You enabled v-Sync in the enblocal.ini?

When I updated My ENB without making a copy of My enblocal.ini, I had similiar problems.

Well that was interesting.

The only way I got the 'world' back was to:

- copy over all vanilla files from a backup (esm and bsa files only)

- delete my skyrimpref.ini file and let skyrim create a new one

I did more things to track down the source of the problem but one of these two fixed it.
