XDA Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Ontopic: CBBE gives women a "regular" body, while UNP makes them look more like a model. Everything is a matter of preference, if CBBE's creator isn't interested in making model-like women, people who prefer them wouldn't be able to have them, that's why there are different bodies, even if CBBE has a lot of customization. I do not agree - from personal experience i know that you can make a CBBE body look almost exactly like a UNP body with bodyslide. Again, only thing here is the details missing. (Alot can be fixed with textures, but i digress.)
ElectricSheep Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Let's get some misconceptions straight. More polys = better quality. Not really. The number of polys is relevant, but what defines quality the most is topology, meaning that a higher poly mesh can actually look more box than a lower poly one. Take CBBE and Dream Girl for example: DG has overall much smoother appearance despite being lower poly than the former. Also, keeping meshes low poly is better for gaming purposes as it makes them easier and handier to work with. Fitting low poly armor to a high poly body is a pain in the ass e.g. That said, all of the popular body replacers have absolutely horrendous topology, which is the reason why some of their features look blocky (like CBBE's wooden wrists and shins) - NOT the number of polygons. You can recreate any body with Bodyslide. Horsheshit. Even though you can render some of its features similar to other bodies, CBBE will always remain just CBBE in all its obscure and basic glory. No amount of sliders will make this body good looking. The only right way to make a quality body mesh is to model it from scratch with a certain shape in mind - there's really no workaround. And even though you can shrink and stretch it thereafter, as in create some variations (bigger boobs, ass, etc.), you will never truly escape from that default look that was intended in the first place. There are so many bodies there's no point in making new ones. 90% of so called "bodies" are variations of UNP or CBBE. A body, as in a *new* body, is a new mesh modeled from scratch. It's as simple as that. On a side note, I don't get why so many ppl are into creating some kind of universal answer-to-all-prayers body. Such a body would have to be high poly in order to emulate better various shapes (including freako ones) and would deform badly - which in my book is the exact opposite of quality.
blabba Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Let's get some misconceptions straight. Yes, let's do that.... Let's get some misconceptions straight. That said, all of the popular body replacers have absolutely horrendous topology, which is the reason why some of their features look blocky (like CBBE's wooden wrists and shins) - NOT the number of polygons. Did you even look at the meshes? You probably didn't, so here, I'll give you some SS of it (The poly counts are in game-ready Tri's) CBBE: DG: (7,556 > 6,516) I think it's safe to say that what you said was completely false and that CBBE does in fact retain the crown of lowest poly body replacer for Skyrim. Let's get some misconceptions straight. More polys = better quality. Not really. The number of polys is relevant, but what defines quality the most is topology, meaning that a higher poly mesh can actually look more box than a lower poly one. They are both equally important. If you have good topology, you do not require as much poly's. If you have bad topology, your going to need more poly's to achieve the same look. They are basically tradeable. The rest of your post is opinion based which is fine and dandy, I just felt the need to correct some mistaken facts here.
ElectricSheep Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Did you even look at the meshes? (...) (7,556 > 6,516) Indeed, I was too lazy to go to the Nexus and download the bodies - my bad and thanks for correcting the false statement. I remember Petrovich posting screens of DG in comparison with some other body mesh, proving that the former is lower poly, but turns out that was actually UNP. Still though, DG looks and is technically superior.
