Nepro Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Looking for mods that enhance the performance, can be even at coast of quality. I noticed that my game slowed down a bit and I have a lot of mods. Some mods on nexus are misleading. They're tagged as optimizers but in fact they lower FPS.

I don't mean to come off rude here, but googling isn't a bad idea. Also, if you have any questions that don't deserve a thread, post here: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=4973

Nepro Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=26756 Help me with this mod. The mod author says it increases FPS but you're required to download Qarl texture Pack which in turn decreases FPS. I am puzzled.

The mod author says it increases FPS but you're required to download Qarl texture Pack which in turn decreases FPS. I am puzzled. If you card/system can't handle the full blown Qarl's pack then there are several options: 1. Qarl's Redimized: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=3813 2. Qarl's Reduced: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=14057 There are other options as well if you scroll down to the bottom of the section on Qarl's stuff under the World Texture Pack subtitle: http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/totoworld.html
Nepro Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 I am happy with my performance in outdoors only in closed cities I have significant drop in FPS. I dunno what mod to install for that. And yes, without any mods or even running plain FCOM Convergence without any other mods I hit 40s and 50s in FPS in Waterfront, so the problem is that my laptop can't handle mods. I don't have that powerful CPU, graphic card (Nvidia Geforce 9800M GTS) is fair 1GB memory and 4GB rams, only the CPU is lagging behind - Intel® Core Duo CPU @ 2.53GHz The other solution would be to get rid of LoversStupidNpcs, but all the fun is gone without it :C I already start to cut on some "non-essential" mods. btw how does Oblivion use the computer sources? Does it make use of all processors (CPUs), use all the RAM memory?
gregathit Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 No oblivion unfortunately is a 32bit based program that was designed to run most things through the cpu. More modern games divide this flow now between cpu and gpu. It is of course more technical than this but that will give you an idea of why so many utilities and programs exist to "help" oblivion keep up today.
Guest GingerTom Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Don't worry about the waterfront--it's always been bad.
