They are mostly random, but seem to prefer happening when I enter any player home, or when a script kicks off (Death Alternative, Defeat, are the primary ones it crashes on, but not the only ones). Does anyone have any ideas what is causing my problems? judge0 Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I found Estrus if used in a location, would have to wait before you could go through a door. ActorEvents framework is exceptionally buggy and causes CTDs & papyrus spam. Just for a start, I'd disable those two, load game, make a new save, quit, use save cleaner from nexus, load cleaned save and test to see if it's still crashing. Hope that helps.

I am surprised with that many mods you only get random CTD AFTER you installed all of them. What was your rebuilding process? I hope it's not throwing them all in and hope it works. I tested out a lot of the mods you have and had to take out a lot of them in my set up to keep it stable. Not because they are bad but because some mods just don't play well with each other. Once I realized that I cannot use ever mod ever created testing and building a stable setup isn't too difficult.

Doh, guess I was too bleary eyed this morning when I posted that, I had inteded to pull estrus out completely, thanks for pointing out i missed it.

Once I realized that I cannot use ever mod ever created testing and building a stable setup isn't too difficult For the rebuild I ripped it down to vanilla and added 5 at a time and played for a while with each set. I could never get it to ctd reliably enough to say which one from each set was causing it. It has stopped crashing when I enter a door (mostly), but it's still sputzing out randomly on me. The most consistent thing has been how nasty my papyrus log is, but when I pull the only ones I can id out of it and run a save that had no mods on it when it was made the game still goes down randomly. You wouldn't happen to remember which ones you had to pull because they don't play nicely do you? Oh, I meant to mention in my original post that log is on a game that didn't even last 10 minutes. That mod list (with the exception of Estrus, I've given up on that one just forgot to pull it) are the ones i would like to have active, but I'll nuke anything that is known to not cooperate.

I ditched OBIS in favor of Immersive Patrols. OBIS is a very heavy mod. I also ditched all mods that involved altering mannequins other than the bug fix. They all seemed to have some glitches. I also tend to keep mods that alter leveled lists to an absolute minimum. I think one needs to be very knowledgeable with the inner working of Skyrim to play mix-and-match with these mods. Have you monitored your memory usage? I noticed that you have mods that generate a lot of NPC into the game. Memory is usually the first culprit with random CTD.

I've been monitoring system ram, just realized video ram is what I should be watching. I've got 3gb video, but I may be bottoming out. What's odd though is it doesn't crash when theres a lot happening onscreen, most of the time there's no more than 1 or 2 npcs on screen when it craps out. I'll load up a vram monitor and check to see what that looks like when I get a chance to play later today, and pull out those mods to see if it helps, thanks!

zzz72w3r Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I doubt you would run out of memory for textures with a 3gb card. I am assuming you are using SKSE 1.7.1 with its memory fix so it is unlikely you would have a memory problem with NPC and ENB too. I have read that improperly merged mod packs could lead to CTD but I am not qualified in that area to help. There is also the possibility of hardware glitch like overheating.
dragotx Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 It's still giving me a cosmic raspberry, I'm going to drop down to as minimal a load order as it takes to kill the papyrus spam, and then slowly work back up for the ones I want to play. I figure it's no more than 2 or 3 causing the problem, but I'm betting they are all unrelated issues that are just ganging up and causing havok. Thanks for the help, y'all gave me lots of good places to start looking. I was just really hoping to not spend the next week fighting mods. (I don't get a lot of time to play )
