Cicattrix Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 as I have seen these Terra heads floating around and I have also seen Hentai and other mod authors using some Oblivion heads, I have started to wonder how this can be done. from what I have heard, it seems that there is a way to extract your char out of the save file and then bring it into 3dMax or Blender and then export the whole head as an helmet. just think... you can customize your follower head by giving him/her the head of a char you have created by your taste. or even your char head, if wanna pretend that is your sister/brother. question is: would be some of the masters of the modeling and modding kind enough to share this big secret with us and tell us how to do it and what tools to use?
Handelo Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Not sure about extracting them from the original game, you'd have to refer to know-hows in whatever game you want to extract them from. As for the import, it's simple enough. Once you have the 3d model, you skin it to the Skyrim skeleton, extract it as a nif using the nifskope 3ds max plugin, use nifskope to change some values in the nif so it'd show up in the game, and either: a. change it's name to an existing helmet and put it in the right folder, making it a replacer, or b. use SkyEdit to generate a .esp file and make it a standalone item. It's the same process with every piece of equipment or even body models. There are tutorials pretty much everywhere for every step, look around youtube
Cicattrix Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 thx Handelo... the big question is how you extract the character 3D model from the save file? and especially how you do it from Skyrim? or we need the CK for this?
Quemon Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 This looks intersting, i'd like to hear more about this and the tools you need. Nice chance to let people do whatever they want with your 'finished' character. Also you can let Lydia be you best friends character! Contact this thread if you know more (:
Handelo Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 thx Handelo... the big question is how you extract the character 3D model from the save file? and especially how you do it from Skyrim? or we need the CK for this? It's different for every game, I think. Never played Terra, so I dunno about that. As for Skyrim, I don't believe you have that option without the CK.
Cicattrix Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 thx anyway... maybe there is someone that can tell us more about this character extraction... also, I am curious about the way to do it in Oblivion, as I have seen some quite pretty faces there too and those awesome mods from there make me want to play that game too...
Cicattrix Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 hmmm, I have just remembered that the NPC Editor work with head nifs also. it extract them from the .bsa files, it let you modify some things at them then it save them back into the proper folder. so, such a tool we need, to extract the nifs from the .ess files, because I am quite sure that the game store our chars as nifs, along with the quests and map progress and other related things. common, there is no one to tell us how it works in Oblivion?
person123456 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 i actually used 3dripperdx to extract my heads straight from oblivion but... im sure theres a better way
Cicattrix Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 thx for sharing. Ill give it a try... maybe CK will let us do it too...
