i just took a peak at what made grass on steroids, the performance grass mod tick, and it turns out, it's just a stupidly simple tweak that anyone can do (see attatched screenshot).

 

I made those tweaks in the unique grasses.esp and checked em out in game. It seems to work out pretty well.

 

pros

- better performance out of unique grasses

cons

-i'd say the mod might lose some of it's 'hand placed' sort of look in places

i looked at this for all of 5 minutes before uploading here to LL. I haven't traveled all of skyrim to see if it causes any major graphical oddities. Consider this a proof in concept and don't expect me to offer much support for it.

 

instructions

 

1. install unique grasses mod as usual [link]

2. replace the esp with this one

3. in skyrim.ini change under grass to look something like :

*iMinGrassSize=75 ;

 

*the original mod asks for a value of 20 here. as per how the usual grass on steroids mod works, you should increase this value. 75, from my 5 minute impression, seems like a pretty good sweet spot. but you can and should increase this value to 85-120 if you'd like to squeeeze more FPS out of your system. as it is, a value of 75 seems denser than the original while still giving more FPS.

 

optionally, you can install

[sFO 191 (or other versions)](http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/download/1000088073/?), and one the [grass on steroid options](http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33582/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D33582&pUp=1) for SFO

 

but instead of a value of 75, you might want a value for around 100 for imingrasssize.
