[3dsMax] Nif Export Seperates My Mesh into 2 NITriShapes

I cannot for the life of me understand why my khajit head is exporting out as 2 shapes instead of 1

 

I found out from Expired that head parts can only have 1 NiTrishapedata branch or they won't show up in game (which is what happens for me)

 

Except everytime I try exporting the mesh out, the nif exporter splits my single mesh into 2 nitrishapes.

 

Attached below is my xml and output nif (modified in nifskope)

 

You can ignore the whisker bones and stuff , that's just stuff I added for HDT whiskers.

 

So in short, anyway to export out this head as 1 single nitrishape without messing up UV's?

We all owe him like 4000 internets if my test run works well and we see hdt'ified whiskers and higher poly khajit heads.

Turns out, if you assign different textures to different elements in a mesh the nif exporter is going to export the combined mesh seperately for each element and treat it as it's own object.

Is there anyway to prevent the nif exporter from doing this?
