gilar9 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Greetings all, As Creation Kit is coming out, I am thinking it's better to have one "clean" version and another to try out different mod or even play style. I am now using Steam version but seems cannot simply install another client in the computer, any solution on this? Thanks in advance!
gregathit Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Just make a copy of your entire game folder in the steam\steamapps\common folder. skyrim <---original folder skryim1 <-----copy of original folder modded to your taste. Then when you want to play whichever version just switch the name of the folder so that skyrim1 become skyrim, and skyrim becomes skyrim1. Steam won't have a clue, nor will it care as long as the game your trying to play (modded or vanilla) is in the skyrim folder. Note: as mods get more complex and start changing the ini file (not the one in the steam folder but the one in your documents folder where your save games are located) you will also need to have a vanilla version of it and a modded version.
shedidwhat Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 question. after creating skyrim1 and mygames/skyrim1 what the best way to get the new skyrim folder clean for the CK ? ? uninstall->delete left overs ->reinstall ?
Fuchsia Bunny Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I use Sandboxie for this kind of stuff, but I dont run the game through steam. One vanilla installation, which never gets modified or changed. And a sandbox over the top of it containing all mods, creation kit, savegames etc and saves disk space by not needing to duplicate the massive bsa files.
