DemonWithin Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 For a long time I was rocking the Grim and Somber ENB with no problems, however I decided to change to something more "happy" looking. The problem is that everything I tried ended up looking weird and bad, really bad. After a couple of days banging my head against the wall not able to fix anything I did a fresh install and started modding from scratch, but the same problem continues to haunt me. These screenshots are from the Kalicolas Enhanced Graphics ENB, but it's the same with every other ENB I tried installing. As you can see the colors are weird, the sky is too bright and the land is very dark. Also spells like Magelight don't give off any light and are transparent. I followed the instructions word for word on every try, but the end result is the same. I can't figure this out on my own so any help would really be appreciated.
XJ347 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Some ENB's have data files. Did you remove ALL of Somber's data files? I suggest using MO to install anything that goes into the data folder!
DemonWithin Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Yes, I installed the Data files with NMM and checked if they are there just in case. Also I completely deleted the Skyrim folder from my PC and then reinstalled it, so there are no leftover files from Somber.
GrimReaper Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Check if you have the right entries in your skyrimprefs.ini. bFloatPointRenderTarget=1 bTreesReceiveShadows=1 bDrawLandShadows=1 bShadowsOnGrass=1
DIYDeath Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Try a different ENB. For testing purposes can you try Vivinian ENB and don't select any of the weather presets during the install. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36067 I want to see if any other ENBs give you grief or if its just this one. This should narrow down the cause of the problem so we can help you more. Unfortunately I cant reply to posts here while Im @ work (NSFW) so my replies should be somewhat sparse but I'll try to get on one a day.
DemonWithin Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 I have all the right entries in my skyrimprefs.ini

Still there is the problem with the sky being too bright during the day.

Still there is the problem with the sky being too bright during the day. That's looking better. Now what you need to do in order to fix the overly bright sky is follow these step: 1) Download this http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17400/? 2) drag and drop the customizer into your Skyrim main folder (where your ENB files go) 3) open the customizer 4) find bloom 5) reduce the value to a number you feel is more appropriate (based oon taste, there is no "set to this number to fix the issue but based on your complaint you'll want to lower the value) If that doesnt work then find the Sky option and lower the top intensity during the day INSTEAD, dont do both unless you have to.

I tried it and it didn't work. I even tried lowering both of them at the same time, but that still didn't do anything. The only thing that seemed to fix it was when I disabled bloom completely, but that made the game look almost the same as vanilla.
GrimReaper Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Since you are not really providing that much information, what version of the enb .dll are you using? What gfx do you have?
DemonWithin Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 Since you are not really providing that much information, what version of the enb .dll are you using? What gfx do you have? By enb .dll I assume you mean the d3d9.dll and the one I have right now is v0.254. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M, but my Skyrim uses Intel® HD Graphics 4600 for no apparent reason.

I don't think the problem is from the graphics card, it is actually pretty common for Skyrim to do this and I have not seen complaints about the ENB not looking right. The game is not lagging it just looks weird. As I said, before having this problem I used other ENBs with no problem (Sharpshooters, Somber) and also I believe that before deleting the game I fixed it as to make Skyrim use my NVIDIA card, but the ENB problem was still there.
DIYDeath Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Weird that enb customizer didn't work. It should. That's indicative there's something else going on here.
DemonWithin Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 Weird that enb customizer didn't work. It should. That's indicative there's something else going on here. I completely deleted Skyrim again and searched my PC to clean any files that could have caused an issue. After reinstalling the game and this time using Mod Organizer, I installed Climates of Tamriel and Vividian ENB and now it looks ok, although the clouds are still glowing white it's way better than what I started with. I still have no idea what caused the problem in the first place, but thank you all for helping me solve it.
mangaclub Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hi, seems your sky is still badly messed up and your distance fog also. I suppose, because enb uses the Internal GFX card, you might experience this. OR another mod messes in it. If you use Climates of Tamriel you must also use the Climates of Tamriel Weatherpatch from prod80. This fixes horendous bugs and incomaptiblities with CoT and ENB's. Just have a look at the Vividian Descriptionpage at the CoT install section. Try also to use the ENB - Injector version . not the d3d9.dll from the wrapper one. This often solves that ENB wont recognise your laptop gfx card. If that does not solve it, you must set tesv.exe in your Nvidia controlpanel to use the highspeed gfx card. IF that still fails then set following line in your skyrimprefs.ini. iAdapter=0 and make sure the correct gfx card is set in there. Then change following lines in the enblocal.ini ForceVideoAdapterIndex=trueVideoAdapterIndex=1

The only thing I hadn't tried was ForceVideoAdapterIndex=true and VideoAdapterIndex=1 in the enblocal.ini, however when I try to start Skyrim I get an error message saying : Failed to initialize renderer. Your display doesn't support the selected resolution. Please set a different resolution in Skyrim's Launcher under 'Display Settings'.
Nazgren Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Is ForceFakeVideocard set to true under your ENBlocal.ini's Global settings? That could be causing your ENB to show the wrong card. It may be a silly question but i assume your resolution is actually compatible? Apart from this the only thing i can think of is that you may be trying to open multiple copies of skyrim, check your processes tab on task manager for tesv or ENBhost before you open skyrim, that's the only thing that's caused the "Failed to initialise renderer" error for me.
DemonWithin Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 ForceFakeVideocard is set to false in my enblocal.ini, I don't have either tesv or enbhost in my processes tab and my resolution is compatible.
mangaclub Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 no enbhost? hmm vividian comes with a preconfigured enblocal.ini (if you checked that during install) that enables some speed and stability options. then enbhost.exe should also poppup. Still this is very very strange that skyrim wont detect your internal gpu. The last solution, wich i could think of, would be using RCRN. Itcomes with a more compatible optimus fix. But the install is a bit tricky. btw care to upload your loadorder to pastebin? maybe i can see something becasue of those clouds and distant fog.
DemonWithin Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Perhaps I wasn't too clear, I have enbhost.exe and TESV.exe in my process tab when I try to start the game, I just don't have multiples of them.This is my load order which I copied from Wrye Bash : 00 Skyrim.esm 01 Update.esm 02 Dawnguard.esm 03 HearthFires.esm 04 Dragonborn.esm 05 ZaZAnimationPack.esm 06 ApachiiHair.esm 07 Alicia.esm 08 ClimatesOfTamriel.esm 09 ApachiiHairFemales.esm 0A SexLab.esm [Version 1.58b] 0B Devious Devices - Assets.esm [Version 2.8.0] 0C SexLabAroused.esm 0D Devious Devices - Integration.esm 0E Devious Devices - Expansion.esm 0F Schlongs of Skyrim - Core.esm 10 hdtHighHeel.esm 11 HighResTexturePack01.esp 12 HighResTexturePack02.esp 13 HighResTexturePack03.esp 14 CoT-WeatherPatch.esp 15 100XCarryWeight.esp 16 N_43 Hair Pack.esp 17 SOS - VectorPlexus Regular Addon.esp 18 _zzCCCHairs.esp 19 RaceMenuOverlays.esp 1A RaceMenuPlugin.esp 1B SGEyebrows.esp 1C DanceTogether.esp 1D Angelic_Demonic.esp 1E Apropos.esp 1F SKpaints2.esp 20 360WalkandRunPlus-RunBackwardSpeedAdjust.esp 21 RaceMenu.esp 22 SKLayeredpaints.esp 23 SKmalewarpaints.esp 24 BS-TheHag_Overlays.esp 25 SOS Schlong Controller.esp 26 Brawl Bugs CE.esp 27 ClimatesOfTamriel-Dawnguard-Patch.esp 28 SexLab TDF Aggressive Prostitution.esp 29 SexLabSquirt.esp 2A Vividian - Weather Patch CoT.esp 2B ClimatesOfTamriel-Dragonborn-Patch.esp 2C Extended Slider Colors.esp 2D CoT-WeatherPatch_DB.esp 2E BS-TheHag_WarPaints.esp 2F DudestiaOutfitChanger.esp 30 SOS Equipable Schlong.esp 31 FNISSexyMove.esp 32 RegnPiercings.esp 33 Devious Deviants.esp 34 KJ Tattoos 4K.esp 35 SKtats.esp 36 LovelyHairstylesCE.esp 37 Pinup Poser.esp 38 SKGwarpaints.esp 39 Neithteam Warpaint.esp 3A Pupetteer Master.esp [Version 1.6] 3B Crimson Tide - Blood.esp 3C UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp 3D SexLabWorkingGirl.esp 3E UFO - Heartfire AddOn.esp 3F My Home Is Your Home.esp 40 Corrupter.esp 41 dD-No Spinning Death Animation.esp 42 QueenGlitterWarpaints.esp 43 RaceMenuMimic.esp 44 HeavyMetal.esp 45 SKTSwarpaints.esp 46 SexLabMatchMaker.esp [Version 5] 47 SKpaints1.esp 48 SOSRaceMenu.esp 49 Seductress Ayleena.esp 4A Schlongs of Skyrim.esp 4B Seductress Elizabeth.esp 4C SexLab Cumshot.esp [Version 1.5.2] 4D The Eyes Of Beauty - Elves Edition.esp 4E SexLabGenderChange.esp 4F SkyUI.esp 50 BLEED.esp 51 Customizable Camera.esp 52 Skyrim Shadow Striping Fix.esp [Version 2.1] 53 Alicia.esp 54 FNISspells.esp 55 SlaveTats.esp 56 TheEyesOfBeauty.esp [Version 9] 57 UFO - Dragonborn AddOn.esp 58 UFO - Dawnguard AddOn.esp 59 ZazResources.esp 5A _NewHair.esp 5B _zzSimsHair.esp 5C maymayHairs.esp 5D vAutosaveManager.esp 5E zarias_restraints.esp 5F Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp [Version 2.4]
mangaclub Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 thanks! Cannot really see some problems in your load order. ;/ A thing that is worth a try still are the skyrimprefs.ini Vividian comes with a whole bunch of them in the supportfiles. They provide a optimized result depending on your CPU. I guess you should try the performance verison though. Maybe that helps. Atleast i see nothing that could explain those weird weather. ... Oh please try in the console following command at daytime and have a look if things change: fw 81a this should switch you to a vanilla skyrim weather so we can exclude CoT there if it looks the same on vanilla weathers. Btw are you using any other preprocessors? like sweetfx, Hialgo or rcrn? You can see this in your enblocal.ini what .dll is set in the first lines.
DemonWithin Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 I have been using the .ini files that come with Vividian, but not the performance verson. So I tried it and it's still the same. This screenshot that I posted earlier was taken with the "fw 81a" command : Also I'm not sure what you were asking me about the .dll in enblocal.ini, so here is the only line that has dll in it :ProxyLibrary=d3d9_smaa.dll
