chajapa Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Good gosh, there are so many differing instructions on how to do this. I'm confused (again). Here is what I want to do: Uninstall Skyrim Get rid of NMM Start over with Mod Organizer It's difficult to find consistent information on how to even uninstall Skyrim. I don't care about any current saves. I have all of the mods I use in their original zip or rar. I just want to start clean Is it advisable to move the location of the Skyrim install? I saw something about getting it out of C:\\Program Files (x86) and moving it to something like C:\\Games .... why? This is for a Steam-based install. I'll want Skyrim, then the official patches, then I have to clean them (gotta figure that out with MO), and I'll want FNIS and SKSE so I can start reinstalling all of my favorite SexLab stuff. I've looked here. I've Googled. Lots of different information. Is there a "best way" to do this or do you just stumble through the first time and hope you don't totally screw stuff up and have to do it again?
XJ347 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 No need to fully reinstall Skyrim. Here is what I would do! Delete your Data folder! Use Steam check the cache integrity of Skyrim (will reinstall the missing files) Now place mods into the MO downloads folder Install Mods Use a guide on using MO, that will help the trickier things like FNIS usage.
Killikrates~2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Exactly that, plus clean the games master files with TES5Edit (let Steam reinstall as above then go to this tutorial). Like XJ347 said, review a Mod Organizer guide like this wiki and you're all set.
chajapa Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 If I've already cleaned my masters, can I just plug them back in after I reinstall the base game?
AstarteN7 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I always keep a vanilla folder and it is only a matter of deleting my mod infested Skyrim with a clean one.
