Unofficial Skyrim patches causing my CTD

Disabled all plugins and tick activated 1 plugin at a time until I find the cause. To my surprise it was the unofficial Skyrim patch (all of them) that was causing the CTD on start up.

 

I was playing Skyrim with this load order for quite  a well. What happened?

 

 

 

edit: it happened when I install a few mods, iHud, The Dance of Death, Hoodless Archmage robes, toggle helmet and high quality world map.

 

 

edit2: I forgot to mention this, but the CTD happens on start up. Past the Bethesda logo and when the Skyrim logo pops up but before you see "Continue, New Game etc', it will crash right there without any error pop ups or anything.

Hope this is a dumb question but do you have all the DLCs for the unofficial patches?

Well if you had read my post properly, the unofficial patch was working fine until a few mods were installed ( I was playing with them for quite a while), so yes I have all the DLCs. 

 

I reinstall my whole mod list and it still crashes, all these CTD is going to force me to start a new save. Hopefully I can salvage it. 

 

I tried TES5 Edit, and nothing was reported. Did a simple save file script cleaner and nothing. 

 

 

Edit: My save is a level 30 PC, so I have progressed quite far through the game.

Have you downloaded any new mods/patches at the time this started happening?

 

Also I reread you original post: for clarification is it ALL of them or ANY of them?

I downloaded no patch but a few mods which I have already listed them. I downloaded them all at once before booting up skyrim again it crashed. I even tried uninstalling the mods and/or disabling the plugins as well. 

 

At the rate the CTD is happening on my current save, I might as well start all over. I don't want to play Skyrim without the unofficial patches because I'm sick of Vanilla quest bugs.

Since you didn't provide a complete load order, I can't see this for myself, but do you have Storefront?  Apparently the 1.03 version had a dirty edit that was causing all sorts of issues (someone did report a CTD, I was seeing strange stuttering).  If you do have 1.03, upgrade to 1.04 and see if that fixes it.  If not, ignore my post (other than posting a damn load order ).

Well this is my load order, apologies for not putting them up beforehand. This went through TES5 Edit, although LOOT did recommend some changes but not a lot. I like to group the lighting changes together. This load order was fine up until level 30, but after installing a few new mods it broke and the game only works if I disable the unofficial patches plugin. For me this is not a good trade.

Only thing in the load order I noticed and I am not sure it is relevant as it it not something I use, The remodeled armor mod esps for the DLCs are before the vanilla skyrim one. not being a user of this mod I wasn't aware how independent of each other they are but in all the mods I use where there are separate esps for the DLC I have them after the main skyrim one.

That is how LOOT sorted them. They weren't stacked together but their position on the list was the same, the DLC esps before the vanilla. I just stacked them together and ran TES5 to make sure it works.

Fair enuf, like I said was unfamiliar with that particular mod so wasn't sure and an easy one to miss. 

 

Gonna admit this is a bit beyond my inexperienced mind, gonna keep following this tho as I am now interested in what the answer is

I have used TES5 Edit to check if I'm missing any masters, nothing. I had to disable all my plugins and activate them 1 at a time and open Skyrim to find out the problem. 

 

The troubleshooting was pretty short because once I activated just unofficial skyrim patch (not the rest) the game will CTD on start up past the Skyrim logo. 

 

I tried installing everything from scatch and it would still crash. Whatever causing the unofficial patches to crash is hidden from TES5 Edit which I relied heavily in troubleshooting my game. 

 

Apparently though, I'm not the only one that experienced this problem but I am a part of a small minority. I don't fault the patches, I won't play without them. The sheer amount of bug fixing is too much to trade off so I have decided to start a new game.

 

However, if anyone else have something to share, please to so. This might happen to me again or to someone else.
