Mod Organizer Problems

I'm trying to install all my mods from NMM into a different Skyrim directory that is being handled by MO in the hopes that one day I can migrate to  MO completely.

However, the way in which MO handles overwriting files is different to NMM. The freedom that you get MO is great but it isn't tangent enough for me to know that the proper files have been overwritten.

For instance, in NMM I would install a body replacer such as CBBE and then Install a texture replacer over it. NMM will ask me if I want the texture

replacer to overwrite the files in the body replacer. You will click 'Yes to Mod' and the files from the texture replacer will overwrite the files that were in conflict with the body replacer.

MO is a lot more loose and a lot more confusing. It is already complicated with just two variable (body replacer and texture replacer). I put the texture replacer above the body replacer, and it doesn't show up in the game. I am trying to understand the conflict tab under information in MO.

I have read that some people prefer to use NMM for textures and uses MO for the rest. Is this a viable method of doing things? Should I stick to NMM and just be careful.

To have MO "overwrite" files from another mod, the mod with the files that should replace the files of other mods must be placed below the mods it should replace the files from.
it works the same way as the plugin load order or overwriting files with NMM or manually. What overwrites comes after all it should overwrite.

But i agree that MO is not as easy to understand as NMM, hence why both are great mod managers with MO targeting people that want more control.

As for modders: MO is not for modders. You can make it work, but you need to know how things work to make this happen unless you only create simple mods (means no scripts with dependencies to scripts from other mods and best even w/o own dialogue) as then MO works just fine as well.

Afterall you should use the mod manager that you feel most comfortable with and that suits your needs the best as following guides that tell you to install into the games data folder while using MO are nonsense as this defeats the biggest benefit from MO - a clean data folder, which saves you the hassle of a possible reinstall of all mods or even the complete game.
