I hope this is in the right area, if its not, please let me know or more it.

I have a custom race known as the ningheim race, and i currently have made a nord, but want my mage type class to be my follower, would anyone be willing to point me in the right direction, or tell me word for word how to do it? last attempt i made, made skyrim skse crash upon start up. Ive been reading a few guides but when i add  the masters, the import button on creation kit vanishes and its like *hmmm*, thanks for your time everyone :)

if you need any other info let me know.

Have you config your ini file to allow multiple master files load? Take a look at this thread, may be useful if you didn't do it yet.

As for the standalone follower creation with custom race, this Darkfox127 tutorial could be useful to you if you know the basics. For the basics, this is what I use and recommend.

This also covers how to create an NPC from one of your player characters.

Good Mods to enhance your character? Sure, just browse this topic here, you will find a lot of ideas for sure. Just don't forget that a good ENB also does a lot for the appearance ;)

Good luck!

No shame in the noobish, I am one too.

Let's see if I can say it correctly: an ENB is a graphical enhancer so your game visuals and effects brings you a better experience.

You can start here, for the basic and then browse serveral ENB presets to suit your taste better. This you can do without any problem, just read the install instructions carefully - they are not hard to do, just need some attention (and backup the files you will tweak first).

For instance, here you can find stunning screenshots for a modified ENB combined with a powerful machine. Fuck, just look at that! Gorgeous.

You just browse Nexus "Visuals and Graphics" category there are performance ENB, Quality ENB, darker, lighter, realistic, fantasy and so on. But be careful, most of them must be installed manually, so it is better install a program like this and watch the tutorial so you don't mess up your game, Ok?

For essential Mods for Skyrim, it depends on your computer specs and personal taste. A little shortlist of my personal selection for immersion/better gaming experience:

- Interesting NPCs because I have finished the game several times, I don't want to do it again but I want to play new quests, so this is the solution. Also adds lots of NPC to the game, making the towns more like towns, alive and busy.

- Immersive Armors because I am an armor freak and this MOD adds a wide variety of new equipment. Immersive weapons is also a must for me.

- If you have a powerful machine, look for aMidianBorn Book of Silence textures pack, way better than the official HR Pack DLC.

- Convenient Horses for... horse convenience :)

- Run for your lives, so Quest-related characters don't die from dragon/vampire attacks (really annoying) or broke quests.

- Sounds of Skyrim for exactly that.

- For sexy time, SexLab.

- For follower managing, I use AFT, but you also have UFO as a good option. Also the Mod My home is your home is great to assign your followers to your Mod houses when dismissed.

Just say what you need, that surely be a mod for that!

Sorry about the late reply, very much thankful for the time you have given me, ill check the ones you said out. I have been looking more into ENB now, and i understand a little more, however i am still very clueless and i have looked up guides for them and they dont help me to much, would you please explain it to me when you get the chance? i need all steps, after that ill be ok, i tried with one ENB and it just crashes my game alot, and doesnt even look like the pictures, just how it looks normally, or makes the floor look really wierd with missing patches.

I have been where you are standing now, very confused with all the ENB details and what change what in game. The fact is that understand ENB is a long learning curve, a small tweak can drop or rise your frame rate big time without you to notice the difference (shadows are a good example). I know just the basics, so I can't be very helpful with technical details.

The best advice I can give you is to install Boris Wrapped files and then read this tutorial/info carefully when you got the time. It explains how to set a custom enblocal.ini file (don't forget to backup original files first) and the meaning of each variable/effect - with comparative screenshots, so you can tweak at your own personal taste. It's time consuming, but worth it.

Also, try to update your graphic card drivers to the latest stable version, the same with directX, follow the instructions of installation carefully and be ready to a lot of trial/error. When you got a good graphic visual and performance (the ENB usually have an hotkey for monitoring the FPS rate, above 30 should be smooth gameplay), backup the ini files, so you can play and edit further without the fear of not remembering your favorite configuration.

You may be also interested in this MOD, that simulates the effect of an auto-focus photographic machine, very useful for screenshots and good to gameplay, although it could be strange in the beginning to adjust to the effect, but after a while you should have no problem.

I use a little tweaked version of this ENB, but you can find almost everything: from silent-hill to gothic like, fantasy or realistic and so on. Just browse the presets, watch some videos, read the install/uninstall info carefully, backup everything and good luck! :)

I accidentally stumbled into this thread and maybe my experience as another noob can offer some help considering how much help I have received from others here.  I too was tempted and daunted by the prospect of using ENB but every ENB I tried crashed my Skyrim initially.  I have a 2014 mid-range system so I known spec is not an issue.  This is how I got it to work for me:

1. Having a clean install of Skyrim (I had 100+ mods and anyone of them could be a problem) or disable all mods, especially lighting mod until ENB is working.

2. Start with Project ENB with CoT, not because it is the best or the easiest but because it has the most detailed instructions and 3rd party video helps.  It also has every prepacked preset set that you can use for different needs for people like us without knowledge how to tinker with ENB.

3. Use Project ENB's recommended mods to build up the looks.  I learned a lot about compatibility issues by trying alternative mods over Project ENB's recommended mod list.  Every conflict allows me to learn a little bit more about how graphics work in Skyrim like how different weather and lighting mods really don't like each other.

I was so happy when my game starts to resemble some of the screenshots I've seen (I put off Skyrim for 2 years because I was not impressed by vanilla at all).

thankyou both for your time, been very busy of late and have been playing left 4 dead with the girlfriend. i havent had much time to test this out, when i can ill get back to you and let you know how things go, i am glad i am not alone, i always thought i made very lame chars, compared to pictures.. but guessing its all due to ENB, my system isnt the best but its fairly decent, but ill check out all the links and offers and let you both know :)

PS - Vanilla skyrim, is lame i very much agree.
