Guest Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 There needs to be a reason to rape the DB. Perhaps its only triggered close to endgame when the people who wanted to but didn't become the Archmage, Head of the Thieves Guild, Head of the Dark Brotherhood (or upset because you destroyed it), others who wanted to buy one of those precious few houses in the cities but you became a Thane and bought it before they could and someone who sent thugs after you for some reason but you prevailed against them and/or a losing side Yarl from the civil war or two. Those people get together and decide you are too arrogant and need to be taken down a peg. They hire an outsider to capture you unaware sometime and he collars you with a special collar that forces you to enter a quest which is a series of humiliating circumstances. Some possible circumstances? Strip naked and walk (not run) between two cities in Skyrim and have sex with anyone you meet on the road who requests it (non-hostiles would have a percent chance to request sex while all hostiles would settle for fucking you instead of killing you). Go to a location where many are gathered (One of the Inns in Whiterun, Winterhold or Markarth, , Yarl's court in Solitude, Markarth or Whiterun, Marketplace in Whiterun or Winterhold) and give each of them the option of taking 1000 gold from you or having public sex, the higher the arousal of the person the more likely they will opt to have public sex which means the rest will be more aroused. Anyone else have any other humiliate the DB ideas (sexual or non sexual) that could be worked into a story like this? i think the same way, that random encounter thing isnt a real good mod. there should be a history behind and it should fit the lore. your sugesting is much like the blackmail thing from oblivion, the creator of that mod has done a great job and was thinking about why the famos heroin should do all the stuff. the only thing i was a bit curios about is the reaction of npcs to that public events. a exemple would be your geting humilated by mjol or jarl balgruf. thats somewhat out of belavable that it disturbes the whole story. right at the moment i would think that only a few charakters would realy do that. nazeem, maul or the old guy how sits next to the jarl from markath but the most wouldn humilate the person how helpt them its the oposite they would try to help the player. I disagree, especially if a player is using the "alternate start" mod in which their character isn't playing as the dragonborn. This isn't to say that there can't be any lore-friendly details for those who play as the DB. Once the base framework is established for the mod, then work could begin on adding lore-friendly content and options. I do agree that adding things like important NPC's like certain Jarls, high class citizens and criminal NPC's hiring thugs to put the player in their place, and even in the case of the Dragonborn like when you get those letters "from a friend" telling you "people aren't happy" and that they'd just "want to see you grow your powers", the dead polar to that is a brutal gangrape delivery from those people who aren't happy. This could be achieved through an options menu in the MCM where you could choose whether your character is the dragonborn or not, if you are playing as the dragonborn, you could check a box in the MCM that'll modify the spawn frequencies and attach them to specific events that the player must complete to activate them; and add dragonborn lore friendly content. its not how the player is, its how the npcs are. as exemple jarl balgruuf is a noble man leader of witherun and keeper of law and order he would never ever acapt that things like that happen neither he would do such things. if things like that happen in a book i would say the writer is runing out of character. and that thing you can do for 90% of all named npcs ingame. skyrim isnt full of potential rapists or mindless sexmaniacs and in my opinion should how ever is making such a mod think about that. if not the story is broken from the start. You're welcome to your opinion, but I disagree with you strongly. But, if you don't like the mod idea then you aren't required to use it if it ever gets made. is there a reason for your disagrement or is it emotional based? its not that i dont like the idea... ill try to explain: a machingun would terrible break the lore if a moder makes one. exept he makes it in dwemer style and instead of powder its using magic, that i could beleave that it is part of the world. same thing for npcs, they arent just robots if the mod tells a story. if that npcs doing things that missmatch there character the story runs weird and becomes unbeleavable.

It's a reasonable disagreement, we see Skyrim in two different ways and likely based on how we see our own world with our own perspectives. I see the wilds of Skyrim as a harsh place where bandits occupy derelict forts, dangerous animals around almost every corner, thieves, wizards, drug dealers and to round it off, the occasional rapist. As you describe your stance that Jarl Balgruuf wouldn't allow such things to happen in his hold, you forget that you can only prevent so much crime. Our real society doesn't tolerate rape either, it's a crime in which the mere accusation can ruin a person's life almost as much as having been raped themselves, yet it happens constantly. And we're both forgetting about Molag Bal, the "king of rape" amongst a number of other titles, rape is a part of the overall lore of the elder scrolls series. And if you don't believe me, go find Sapphire of the thieves guild, her backstory all but blatantly tells you that she was gangraped by bandits. This mod is lore compatible.

Oh... That's someone else's idea. In that case I do agree that, that specific context would be odd. Perhaps instead of a Jarl and Dragonsreach, it could be a bandit leader and an old fort? Could be punishment for raiding the fort and failing.
