Guest Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I swear I have lost at least 2 years of my lifespan for the stress this game (Skyrim) is causing. So, after suffering countless crashes, and glitches, I am now facing a new misery: The textures in my game would occasionally go completely black. I have read around, and somehow this is caused by VRAM running out. This is impossible, most of my textures are 1k, a few are 2k, only character face textures are 4k, and I have 2GB of VRAM (R9 270X is the card if anyone is wondering). So, can anyone tell me what other reasons can cause this, and how to fix? P/s: I have never abused this card (temp never went above 70 C, cleaned twice in the past 4 months, using a Dell PSU, and a Rosewill PSU for the system). Basicly, the only times it heats up are when I play Skyrim.
Shadowhawk827 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Have you tried using Skyrim Startup Memory Extender? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/? It makes a HUGE difference with display issues. Trust me though, it's not Impossible to run out of VRAM, even with a 2gig card. Skyrim is a HUGE eater of VRAM and general memory.
